that doesn't sound similar at all. I mean that sounds like an accurate depiction of his game on sunday.
Of the two of us, I'm inclined to believe I'm the one who actually did a play by play review of every Ball snap in the preseason... DEN, where he legitimately did not play well... and then over the course of the two games vs LAC and SEA, a holding penalty, one tackle for loss and one sack. He may have had a false start, but I'm cloudy on that.
For the other dozens of plays from scrimmage, he was somewhere in the spectrum from adequate to very good.
And yes, I'll agree, it also sounds like an accurate description of his game on Sunday.
Also Tyron was a 20 yr old rookie... in training camp. As you said this guy is already 24
Okay. So?
I'm only suggesting that rookies, no matter their age, tend to need some time to acclimate... surely that's not some out-there concept. I'm not bashing Tyron. I'm suggesting that if a 1st round pick needs time to acclimate, then most certainly a 4th round pick does.
Ball is a rookie Cowboy. I've been a fan since the 1970 season. I can't recall
ever seeing a plurality of Cowboy fans so predisposed to beat on a player in his first season playing the game at a professional level.
I also can't ever recall seeing the media so allergic to a player. They didn't talk to him in preseason to my knowledge, and certainly haven't talked to him since. The only time I believe anyone has even heard Ball's voice was the interviews on draft day. Now, to be fair to media, that could be by his own discretion--part of the court decree in 2016 was that he could never speak to the media about any of the abuse history, and he just prefers to limit any possibility of that. (Btw, that also applied to his ex-gf... which would suggest that the violence was not one-sided, fwiw, since there wouldn't seem to be any reason for a court to demand that of a person who was only a victim.)
Josh Ball is ours.
He has six years of evidence as far as we can know of putting that kind of behavior behind him. Football-wise he deserves the same patience that has ever been extended to any Cowboys rookie ever. He's a 4th rounder. He was never expected to come into the league as a plug-and-play product. He needs development like most. But he's shown promise also like most. It's not too much to ask that he be treated like any other 4th rounder since or before him in their first season.
Here's one guy's closer look at the film from yesterday....
