You may be right.
The overall point remains though. Garrett controls his own destiny.
I’m sick of people thinking fans are treating him unfairly, because they judge him on his overall resume and lack of playoff accomplishments. And then saying he doesn’t get enough credit when the team wins to take their record to 7-7?
Garrett can shut up every fan who criticizes him, by making a playoff run.
It’s nonsense.
I'm not a big Garrett fan. It is time for a change.
I do think the hate for him is often way overblown though. A great coach can coach up an inferior team to overachieve and reach the playoffs but then lose against a better overall team which is also well coached.
If you look at it honestly all of Garrett's playoff teams have been flawed.
2014 - The defense was not even close to a championship caliber defense. It could be argued that the ball control, protect the defense, offense coached by Garrett was responsible for the success they did have that season. Even then if not for a huge mistake by a player and/or a couple missed/blown calls, they advance.
2016 Still not a championship caliber defense and defying the odds with a rookie QB. There was no way that team was winning it all that season, but if not for a player screw-up here and a bad/missed call there they advance.
2018 - I'll give you that one. Although, he got no help from his offense missing on to many available plays.
The point is, judging him on the team's success in the playoffs is not as cut and dried as you want to make it. There are many extenuating factors aside from coaching that determine the outcome. Sometimes it takes great coaching to just get there but even great coaching can't overcome overall better competition.
