Can't have it both ways and claim to be an honest person.

Can't blame a coach for losses and not give credit for wins.
Can't give players credit for wins but not blame for losses.
And vice versa

It's a very, very simple and true concept

It is quite fair to say over time Garrett hasn't been good enough.
Probably was never really the right guy here.

But people acting like he has been a clown and this has been some bottom feeder program are idiotic.
He's 84-66 as a head coach. That's 18 games over .500.
They've won the division 2 out of the past 3 seasons and lead it right now with 2 games remaining. You win the division 3 times out of 4 seasons and you simply arent some bad coach.

But it is OK to say even that isn't good enough.

Bryan broaddus on the postgame show made an excellent point. He said if you can blame the head coach for every loss but after every win it’s because of the players then you clearly are speaking from blind hatred of the head coach. By no means am I a fan of Garrett but some of y’all are looking like clowns with your takes on him
He got his team ready to play this game and deserves credit for it
He hasn’t consistently did that this year so he deserves blame for that

The Rams played flat. Anyone truly believe our defense is as good as they were today??? Lol. Have you not been watching? Our offense is good, but come on, not that good. The Rams laid an egg and we FINALLY took advantage of it. Just like all the winning record teams have done to us all season.

JG is terrible, because once in awhile we see what this team can actually do. This team should be 12-4.
To the teams credit they played different schemes last night, more man on man defense. Finally changed it up!

I should also throw in. That Garrett still controls his own destiny.

He is still the coach. The cowboys can make the playoffs with a win next week.

everyone here knows, that Jerry will give Garrett and extension if he makes it to a Super Bowl this year.

if this team turns it around, and makes a Super Bowl, I am willing to admit that Garrett did a fantastic job and is better than average, which is what I currently think he is.

The ball is in Garrett’s court.

But fans will continue to judge him based on his total resume and accomplishments and not just “oh he beat a good Rams team yesterday”

Here's the thing...whatever we did today worked wonders. Don't think for a minute that the Iggles aren't watching tape, and will adjust their plans accordingly. Where our coaches fall short for the last 10 years is not putting out the same game plan as they just did. We adjusted to how we knew the Rams would attack, and it worked. Great coaches keep this going, and don't fall into the trap of thinking the ship has righted itself, because it hasn't after just one game
If we can't beat this injury riddled Eagle's team, Garret should not board he plane home Sunday Night.

This is why i say just be a fan and let yourself be entertained. With a win like this all of the sudden people flip the script and are all on the ill eat crow. But once they lose again its back to these guys are trash.

How do you know that the players didn't perform better due to their own motivation & pride and JG had nothing to do with it?

Part of it is natural instant reaction but a bigger part is playing drama queen for attention.
Goofballs on here say complete and utter nonsense for likes form other goofballs.

This season has been ugly. No consistency whatsoever and Garrett has to shoulder blame for that. But he's also been a lame duck coach and focus on him has been hilarious as the situation will resolve itself as we have known all year.
He either wins playoffs games: PLURAL or he is gone.
Being 12-4 right now does zero to change that situation.

So if all that matter is playoff wins than just shut up and let it unfold, right???

Ugly or otherwise regular-season wins mean nothing by their own definition.
Team is in first place and would be a playoff team if the season ended today.

I think it's quite possible that Jerry will give the extension if Dallas just makes it to the NFC title game.
He badly wants to believe that Garrett can get him his next SB.
He also knows he's old and doesn't want to hit the reset button again

Clowns? The guy has thee most talented team and has played 4-5 winnable games of our 7 losses. We shouldn't be a .500 team.

You can’t judge Garrett off individual wins or performances. You have to judge him on the season as a whole. The team has underachieved this season.

You win a bad division 3 of 4 year and don't do squat in the playoffs, you aren't exactly a good coach either. I think that's the point that most are making who want Garrett gone.

And I'm telling you we don't want to hear about one game. We're way past that phase. The cheating has been rampant for years so you're going to sleep on the couch until at least a month of good behavior. Until then don't fix your mouth about credit.
Cheating? What are you talking about?

Fix my mouth? lol what is that, some kind of internet tough guy thing?

By the way, if you didn't like the premise of the thread, you didn't have to respond to it. And not liking the premise of the thread is not an excuse to respond as if the OP had indicated something he had not.

You may be right.

The overall point remains though. Garrett controls his own destiny.

I’m sick of people thinking fans are treating him unfairly, because they judge him on his overall resume and lack of playoff accomplishments. And then saying he doesn’t get enough credit when the team wins to take their record to 7-7?

Garrett can shut up every fan who criticizes him, by making a playoff run.

It’s nonsense.

This whole thread is stupid then. Preach it Broaddus. Tell us how we, as fans, should feel. It has been too long since the cowboys have been a force in the league in anything but ratings.

Get us a real GM, AND A Real coach.
Maybe so. I think it's fair point that Garrett bears responsibility in both wins and losses, and some don't acknowledge that, but in the overall scheme of things the smaller success are overridden by the larger shortfalls.

I'm not supporting Garrett - I think he needs to be replaced. But I am supporting a fair and reasonable narrative.

In 2 of those 3 years the Cowboys won the division, the 2nd place team also made the playoffs, and in the other year the 2nd place team got left out with a 10-6 record.

Sure, the bottom of the division was mediocre to poor, but the NFC East isn't the only division where that happens. Look at the other divisions in the same years - top to bottom they were no better.

And, there is the fact that the record needed to win the division required winning games outside the division as well.
