We’re still one of the most penalized teams in the NFL… coach of the year my rear. It’s like Garrett treatment. No, just because you coach the Cowboys and they’re having a solid year doesn’t make you coach of the year. It’s like we’re in LaLa land.

do you think we actually COMMIT the most penalties?

Jimmy had 10x as big a functional job description as Mike. Jimmy was pivotally involved in trades, drafts and personnel decisions. Jimmy set the philosophical tone and helped design defense. He went to a smaller, faster defense that didn't have much of any precedent in the NFL. Mike really isn't involved in draft/free agency. Mike as a motivator? LOL, saw that act in Hard Knocks.

Good post. Totally agree. I'll go one further with my opinion.

While I don't have any recorded old meetings from the 90s heydays, I don't think Jimmy just rolled the ball over to Dave and Butch and said Run the Defense.
Imo Jimmy was directly involved in the defensive planning/scheming/stategy and gameday player useage rotation. I dont think he would acquire guys like Haley and Casillas without having ongoing input/communications on gameday useage of these guys. Jimmy may have delegated to a point but I think there was more direct Jimmy involvement in the defense than many here seem to think.

Now with Norv and the offense, I think Jimmy let Norv pretty much do his thing but again, not totally removed from the offense as the current guy seems to be at times.
I think the perception that Jimmy just delegated all authority to his coordinators is not accurate.
To compare McCarthy to Jimmy and McCarthy's actual lack of involvement as compared to Jimmy is funny to me.

But I get it.
Opinions vary.

To compare the 2 leadership/coaching styles is hilarious to me.

To each his own.

Touché… don’t get me started on the anti- Cowboy officiating.

Honestly, I dont think it is anti cowboy. I think these officials know that they are under a bigger microscope doing Cowboys games when 42 million people watched the Thanksgiving game. I believe that they call stuff that they would normally let go in a game of Titans vs Bengals....... but when Dallas has the prime time game damn near every weekend and all those eyes, they are under heightened sensitivity and call more penalties against us than they would normally call.

Last years Raiders game is exhibit number 1.

How could McCarthy be the NFL Coach of the Year?

McCarthy kept the Cowboys winning after Dak went down? That's never been done?

I refer you to the 2016 season when both the starting QB and his backup went down before the first regular season game. The Cowboys were forced to start a rookie 4th round draft pick.

Oh snap! That's right!.....Jason Garrett was NFL Coach of the Year that season.

Of course, McCarthy deserves it!

Let's remember the prognosis of the team by every NFL analyst after the Tampa Bay game. Our season was in the trashcan.

And yet,.......

Broaddus has always been a McCarthy detractor but he's now done a 180 on him. Declaring him coach of the year and sure to return as head coach next year. He's earned that right.

"Nobody in the league has done their job better than this guy."

5 minute mark starts the conversation. Broaddus comes in at the 8 minute mark. Coach of the year talk at 11:40.

An interesting aside, according to Eatman the Cowboys were interested in drafting Jalen Hurts in the 2nd round (they took Diggs 2 picks before Hurts went to the Eagles) but not to replace Prescott but to "do some kind of hybrid thing". 14:10 mark.

The rest of the video is all Armbar. Breaking down the game as only she can as the preeminent analyst in the sport. Highly recommended.

I see what you did there

Yeah I think this is a reasonable explanation. People think fans who complain about officiating is because we think there’s some agenda out. Not at all. I think it’s like you said it’s the most watched game with the most watched eyes and they are under pressure like a playoff game to make the right calls.

McCarthy should have a good case. But no one will factor this in. If they want to give it to Giants coach I’d have no issue with it. But McCarthy should be in front of the Dolphins and Eagles coaches.

People have a hard time giving McCarthy his due. But it’s deserving.

If McCarthy is actually successful and the Cowboys do win the Super Bowl then McCarthy will be the only HC to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. A few HC's have taken two different teams to the Super Bowl but none have won it with both teams.

Not only should that demand respect around the league, It should put him in the HOF.

A couple months ago she had to be told that the 4 time Super Bowl Champion New York Giants used to be a really good team.

She's there on merit!

I can't remember their names. They've chopped and changed over the years. I think she asks the right questions that's the point I'm making

She's not the host of the Break there to ask questions. That's Derek Eagleton. She's there as an analyst and you won't find anyone more incompetent in the sports world.
