Good to hear but it still pisses me off. Not a single word should leak out on any player in the practice squad until they are no longer able to be claimed by another team. In fact, they should actually be leaking misinformation.

Evidently, some people that have seen Gathers closely enough to be encouraged by his progress passed it on to Broaddus. I'll take that as a good sign that he's doing well until further evidence says otherwise. Since that's about all we have to go on right now, let's just take it as a good sign.

I think Gathers will develop, he has the physical ability that can't be taught you either have it or you don't. Coaches will teach him what he needs to know to become a TE in this league.

Well, considering earlier in the year, when asked about him, Broaddus was not so complimentary. I take it as he was probably asked a question about his progress and just answered the question. Yes, we have paid Him this year like he was on the 53 instead of the practice squad.
Just think about it, a #290 athletic TE !
He doesn't have to be all world, but if he can "get it" - my god !

He is exactly the type of pick to draft in the 6th/7th round. A player with a possible high upside.

That is much better than drafting a Caleb McSurdy type that at the very best would have been a decent back and ST player.
