Broaddus on Rico Gathers

By the first pre season game we will know just how much he has progressed
No one is signing him away because he is well played and in the perfect spot to develope and come in and replace a HOF player in an offense that is te friendly
He has very much to learn and while he may be improving I doubt he is anywhere near ready contribute. He had to learn to block, catch, run routes, read defenders and an offense. Pretty tall order for a guy who played college football, and he didnt

I think he knows the route to him making this team depends on his learn of proper blocking. I've heaRd it was a struggle at 1st, but he has progressed to quite a surprise.....that is what Broadus is referring

I hope this project pans out well for us, that's encouraging he's making progress but imo I think the draft is where the next replacement for J. Witt. lies. There's a guy from Virginia Tech named Bucky Hodges. 6'7" 245lbs. Runs a 4.6/40. He's sort of a hybrid like tight end (i.e. Jordan Reed) where you can line him up in the slot and receiver spots. He's projected to go in the 3rd round so he may be worth taking a look at.

My guess is that Rico Gathers will be on the 53-man roster before the end of the season.

Why? The only reason would be that another team wanted to sign him to their 53 man roster. So you'd be looking at a team that wanted to collect prospects for next year. That would have to be a team who missed the playoffs.

Why on earth would a PS player on a playoff team go elsewhere? More games. More pay.

This is why I hate Twitter. The character limit allows mediots an excuse for just punching in 1-2 incoherent sentences that give little substance. Brilliant stuff.

I dunno, it probably means he's catching the ball real nice and stuff.
