Look at Daks cap hit for the next 5 years. Next year it's almost 90 million. Over 30% of the cap. They will have to restucure Daks contract and kick the can down the road. Wait until Parsons contract. The cowboys are not going to be able to add talent. The Cowboys will kick the can down the road and will be paying these guys when they are long gone. Without any championships to show for it.

so but it isnt any thing the Saints did,if they had watched any film then they know how to KILL this D since we didnt replace the biggest weakness we had for 15 years and that is the our DTs.the sad thing is we are stuck with guys who have one foot in retirement and other who just suck.Thisis Jerry and that idiot Stephen's fault, how wish those two were gone.
During our last dynasty the depth or our defensive line had as much to do with our success as the triplets. We just kept throwing the Jimmie Jones’s, the Leon Lett’s, the Russell Maryland’s, the Tony Casisas’s, and the Chad Hennings’s at teams. I am amazed that Jerry forgot that was one of the foundations of that team and has ignored it since. Look at KC. Mahomes is generational for sure. He doesn’t beat Burrow or Allen without Chris Jones.

I would give Jospeh more time. He missed camp and has to play himself into shape. Phillips was with the Giants so he should already be in shape. I disagree with Bryan that he was any good last year. He wasn't. And the Giants knew he had nothing this year. I actually think Carl Davis or Justin Rogers would give us more at DT than Phillips. But it is only 2 games. Maybe he can turn things around.

I also think Overshown has to be playing more. It is not just his speed. He plays with more aggression than the rest of the Cowboys and maybe that will rub off on some of the other players. They need to be more active and aggressive on defense. They are too soft.

Brooks looks like he is one of those guys who looked good in preseason but in the regular season he falls down, literally. On Dak's first INT, if Brooks keeps his feet, he is in position to catch the ball that was picked off. It would have been yards and a first down. I still think Flournoy is the guy who should be on the field. He looked good in preseason because he ran great routes, not because he was playing scrubs.
I sort of look at Joseph same as I did Jason Peters. Hopefully can get some mentorship with the young guys but not banking on much physically.

The Cowboys need to get serious about fixing the DT position some year. It's been an ongoing problem since Glover left. Until it's fixed the defense won't be fixed. Paying Diggs, Parsons, Bland.......none of that will matter. Time to put some quality capital into the DT position.

OK so 2 weeks in and we already know that group is in trouble. So what's the plan going forward Front Office? What is the GM doing about it? What's the HC doing about it? Because it's clear that group is holding the team back and will prevent them from winning against good teams again this year. Other FA's? In season trade? Or we just riding it out until the off season?
Pretty simple per Jerry. We like our guys because they are cheap.

Usual suspects will blame everyone but Dak. Jerry built this team and created the culture. The whole team was bad from the top down including Dak.
Dak was 13-16 for 144 yards and a TD before Brooks slipped to cause the INT.

Next time he got the ball, the score was 35-13.

What if I told you the Cowboys are currently projected to have the 12th-most cap space in the NFL next year?

Brooks also whiffed on a key block inside the 10. Believe it was a reverse. Span Ford had leveled a player farther down field, but Brooks blew it. I believe Flournoy would have made that block.

Why is anyone surprised by any of this? Very clear big and little had no interest in helping MM win. They want him gone so they can hire BB.

Flournoy appeared to be a decent blocker in pre-season. It is a skill we lack. Watch the Saints seal the edges with WRs blocking DLaw and Kneeland. We need that but you can't with guys like Cooks and Turpin. Flournoy is 6'1" and 200lbs. Maybe he has the size to do some blocking. I also think he plays into that sort passing game the Cowboys seen to love.

You forgot the other pick. Also the first pick was high. Even with the excuse he has a pattern.

I think what went wrong started in preseason when McCarthy refused to play the starters at all. They are rusty on both sides of the ball. Jimmy played his starters every third game then for at least a half. But softball Mike....Nope... So we get beach weather all training camp. Then they have no preseason for the starters. Then they play soft and show up when we want to.......Then you have the front office  Insanity...doing the same thing every year and expecting a different outcome. But I think Jerry loves it...after all...it keeps him relevant....
