Broaddus thinks we should double-dip RB in the 2025 draft

I know that! (LOL) but I'm saying they could lean on his knowledge/experience from 2 years in the league. How to prepare, be a professional, and so on...........
And do we know he "prepared to be a professional", and "so on'"? Zero evidence of that.

It takes more than time to be a vet presence, like playing, he's had a grand total of 40 carries, needs far more than that to have any chance of having "vet presence"....

This surprises me from you........some of the smartest and most knowledgeable players in the game are backup types. Maybe you are misunderstanding what I saying ( or I'm not explaining it very well ). I agree Duece offers little or nothing on the field but if we draft 2 two rookies, his experience could help their transition. Either way, with two rookies, you want the presence of a vet and rather than signing one from the outside just keep Duece. But it's just a thought......if they decide to cut him today, fine but they will still need a vet IMO.

Rookie running backs for the first year or two run mostly on instinct, not knowing the plays, etc. for a while. There's so much to learn as a rookie, regardless of any vet helping them they're going to be overwhelmed, just a cacophony of information to digest.

Maybe you don't understand me, no two year back that's carried the ball a handful of times is going to provide much, if any, "experience" to the new guy. The new guys have other position vets like Dak, Lamb and so on as to how to prepare, study the playbook, etc.

I understand your point, just don't agree.

Did anybody feel that he was a back that you could put in and run most of the time? That could run inside, outside, catch passes, block well, etc.? I mean there's only so many Emmitt-type backs ever available, but at best Vaughan was a part time, backup pick that had 1 or 2 good qualities.

If the Cowboys do draft another rb or two, I'm thinking Vaughan will be released this year...
Looked more like a or stunt than trying to be serious about building a RB room.

I agree 100%........you have a chance to lock down the position for the next 3-4 years.....cheap and fresh legs. In fact, this would be a good time to start a system of recycling a fresh/new one every 3-4 years. In other words, in 3 years, I'd let one walk and draft he replacement.

Sounds nice except for none of these backs score very high in pass protection even under college standards.
I’m having a hard time believing that’s a direction they want to go with a QB making 60m a year coming back from an injury where his hamstring was ripped off his buttbone!

I think we all have been advocating for double dipping at RB. Ill take either Jeanty or Hampton paired with Breshard Smith or Jaydon Blue.

We have too many holes for us to take two RB's imo.
Bingo. Bring in some undrafted free agents in addition to drafting one. We need more draft choices. We most likely better trade down if at all possible and add some extra pics. We must get the Mingo pick back.

Huh what?

This draft has a bunch of decent RBs. We need RBs. What don't you understand? Might as well get them for cheap.
Yes we need a starting RB. But we also need a starting WR2, DT, LB, also a DE, CB and OL. Not enough picks to fill these needs while having the luxury to take 2 backs.

Jeanty at 12 and Tahj Brooks in the 5th. Problem solved
I'm for it. I want a player that all defenses make it their No. 1 goal to stop. Jeanty would be that from the first snap.

I know we have other needs that make others hesitant to take a back that early, but Jeanty is legitimately a top-five player. I don't pass on that because of other needs.

We have 10 picks....and there is free agency to address some of the holes. We did sign Williams from Denver and an OL from Miami. Great draft for DE, DT, and CB. LB should come in FA, possibly WR2.

My expectation is that we will sign a WR No. 2 and LB in free agency, possibly a CB. It won't be top-tier FAs, but players who can start at those spots.

I'm expecting a receiver like Stefon Diggs, LB like Jack Sanborn and CB like Stephon Gilmore.

All but Sanborn may be too rich for our blood, though.

First that is assuming we actually sign 2 starting caliber players in FA.
Even if we do we need RB, DT, CB, DE and possibly OL in the draft. So at least 2 of these positions wouldn’t get addressed until the 5th or later. Its also a big ask that our first three picks are become quality starters.

We really have alot of holes without a front office capable or willing to fill them.

Absolutely we do have a lot of holes. And I don't think they will. And we are going to suffer in that netherworld of not good enough to be a playoff contender and not bad enough to get a high pick.

Right now, without any moves...we have a starting OL. We signed a guy there and have some depth already, so if we draft one there it probably will be later rounds.

Running back doesn't have to be a first rounder...second or third and then a guy late.

Corner it looks like it will be Diggs, Bland, and Carson...so we have to pray that Diggs is ready to go. If not, then CB becomes a much bigger priority.

DT and DE could be in any round 1-3. Dont count out that we trade down and pick up another 2nd or 3rd rounder.

So my hope would be trade down...and with first 4 picks get RB, DT, DE, and CB or WR.

We almost have to use free agency for LB because the draft is weak. Of course, the free agent LBs are weak and are getting weaker by the minute.
