Broaddus tweet on Arkin

If Arkin has been performing well, why refuse to play him? I'm stunned by people's refusal to acknowledge that Arkin may have improved.

Its not his possible improvement that I question. It is the amount of improvement that concerns me.

Yes, he may be better but is he good enough to be a starter? I don't know. I hope the Cowboys has some idea.

Arkin should get plenty of playing time Sunday. Than we can all see how he is doing for ourselves.

Who exactly is Arkin's competition? Last I checked they were all injured. And I have zero faith in Mack ever staying healthy. Dude has been out for six months.

@BryanBroaddus: “@TheRealBuby: @BryanBroaddus Say there's only one guard spot available, would it go to Leary or Arkin?” Leary.

His response to me

Didn't we go through this same thing last year? Arkin got all the reps in TC because of injury. This year he is getting all the reps, again due to injury. When the season started, they went out and traded for Cook to replace the almighty Arkin. This year they're talking about bringing in a dinosaur in Waters, to sit Arkin back on the bench. If he was so good, they wouldn't consider signing Waters.

They aren't considering Waters. Broaddus shot down that report.

NFL teams are very reluctant to play multiple inexperienced OLinemen together on the same OLine. If Leary and Frederick are the LG and OC, then that's 2 players with zero NFL games played. Adding Arkin with those 2 would result in a very rare occurrence of having 3 OLinemen with Zero NFL games played going into the season.

Calvin Watkins reported the same thin last night................

Watkins basically reported that the Cowboys are looking at every available lineman because of the injuries to our backups, and that was before the Cowboys signed two lineman.

Not to say "back pedalling."

I think he's backpedalling and starting to turn his hips, about to turn and follow the Arkin-train downfield. Only in the sense of the guy pushing for a starting job. I'm waiting for preseason games to see if the guy can actually anchor. It'd be amazing if he developed into a starting-capable player from the guy who played on a skateboard the last two preseasons.

Just cause he is getting 1st team reps right now doesn't mean he is really playing at a starting level yet. I wanna see if he gets turned into a speed bump during preseason.

Doesn't matter what his competition is or isn't.

What matters is the guy playing across from him and is that player making plays?

The players competing against Arkin are of little relevance on if Arkin is doing his job or not.

And that's a fair way of looking at it.

Let's just say he's looked good so far and leave it at that.

We're not fielding a bunch of big DTs, either. We're going to have to wait to see how he really does when he gets a wider variety of players to go up against consistently. But, I agree, it's a good sign that he appears to be anchoring better here early in camp.

The key to Arkin is if he can anchor as a pass protector.

It sounds like a lot of the runs are going to be zone stretch plays and a lot of the other runs are going to involve Arkin pulling since he plays well on the move but moving DTs at the point of attack is not his game.

We'll have to see how it all plays out in preseason.

That's a fair statement.
