Best case scenario Brent becomes the team's best 1-tech DT, he's not gonna pass rush but he'll collapse the pocket, the question is will Lawrence be able to come in and catch QBs off the edge when the have no room to step up? We'll find out in two weeks hopefully.

I think Broads is all-in on T. McClain. He also didn't think Spencer had much chance of giving us anything this year. I think we'll just have to wait and see on this one.

Wish people would stop posting stuff from this idiot. He is a good talker and not much else.

Josh Brent will end up being the 2nd coming of Jay Ratliff at his best... just wait and see. I expect him to be added to the roster after the London trip.

He's getting paid pretty good to talk. How much are you getting paid for your opinion?

I don't need to be paid to provide my opinions. I'm getting paid pretty good. Glad to know you are so interested.

Anyway I don't care if he's making a $1 million/year, he still isn't worth everyone running to for a quote about every Cowboy player. Are you his agent or something. Get your panties out it's bunch.

But that's just your unpaid opinion, which is worth a great deal less of JJ's money than the opinion of this so called "idiot".

I don't always agree with Broaddus but I do enjoy reading his opinions.

Yeah, it doesn't take a genius to doubt a guy who hasn't played in so long will jump right in and contribute this year.

Exactly, take Ro for example. if a former 8th overall pick can't contribute after being out for two years then how could Bent bring anything to the table after being out for two years....oh, wait a minute. ...

The one report I saw said he looked big and out of shape. It is good to hear players talking him up though.

When he was brought in at the end of September he was at 330 lbs and was supposed to get down to 320.

Just listened to TC and Broaddus said that he had not even seen Brent.

Mickey said he looked huge, but that might well have changed even in the interim. At 340, dropping 25 pounds is not what it is at 180. It's two weeks of restraint and a bowel movement.

I'd heard, too, that he's still got really good feet and that he looked to be in good shape, other than the extra weight. By that, I mean he looked like he'd been keeping up with his weight training. He's had plenty of time to get into playing shape at this point, too. I expect him to be able to compete at the 1 tech immediately, and I don't really put any stock in Broaddus' opinions if he hasn't seen the guy on a football field yet. I still think Brent's got significant potential for us in that interior rotation. Even if he's not, there's a good chance we're also working Mincey inside once Lawrence is back the week after this one.

I think a beastly 1-tech would open things up for everyone on the D-line. I hope he could step in and contribute. I want a guy like Star Loutelelei or Jonathon Hankins. Man, I liked Jonathon Hankins so much coming out of the draft.

Brent and Hankins are nearly the same guy. Both ~6'2" and 320 pounds.
Both will be very good if playing 20-25 plays per game.
Most of what they showed of Hankins versus Dallas was him running on and off the field.

Brent has never been confused with Tyron Smith for greek god status.
He is a fatty. Has always been.
But his job isn't to be pretty and being a fatty with a ridiculous amount of strength is what is asked of a 1T who owns two gaps.

Nothing anyone says about Brent matters one iota til after he plays.
His play will speak for itself either good or bad.

I'm not sure how Broaddus would know. I thought I heard him say on Talkin Cowboys show that he hasn't even seen him since Brent's been back.

According to his teammates, Brent looks great.
Generally, it's hard to have a take on a guy without actually seeing him...

...but anyone can logically conclude that a guy who has been out of football so long and had such a tumultuous time off the field would struggle to make any impact once they get back on it. There are very real reasons to be doubtful of any production from Brent, regardless of if you've seen him or not.
