Eh. "I can't be a swing tackle" is a dumb thing to say for a guy at this point in his career, whether there's truth to it or not.

Zack Martin was like 33 and was perfectly fine at RT.

You're right, I'm just saying swing tackle doesn't work for every player. Steele actually started his career as the swing tackle and even started on the left side early in his career when Tyron Smith was hurt.

This could be the case again if Jones ends up starting at RT. Just have to wait and see.

some players do not have position flex. But a good starting RT is more important than a swing tackle so if he can be that, then the trade was easily worth it

sometimes in the past this team got too fixated on position flex
I would rather have someone who was REALLY GOOD at one position then someone who is just good at two.

Position Flex Doomsday is more on the defensive side.
I can see some on the OL. But that is really just a matter of reps. Then they are ok. In theory anyway.

The hope might be that he can regain full health, but to suggest he will be better than ever? C'mon, man, this sounds as serious as the one Vander Esch had and both play high impact positions

To be fair, LVE had spinal stenosis.
Narrowing of his spinal column, and usually a physical sport ending diagnosis.

Not saying a pinched nerve/fusion is guaranteed to bounce back from, at least there is a chance.

But extra 6 round picks can be used to move up in the draft.
May not be only 13 picks down. Right now yes seems 12 to 18 spot difference. Don't forget how many 3rd round comp picks there will be as well. So could be as high a 20 to 25 pick difference.

Well, he's in a new system where new things are going to be asked of him and he wasn't here for the whole preseason, so I think that's a reasonable response at the moment. If he doesn't win the starting RT job, though, he will be swinging back and forth.

The people inside the building plan for him to play right tackle.

Ideally, I think they’d like him to replace Steele, both this year and in the future. I think they’d like to ‘transition’ the money they’re paying Steele towards a long term contract with Jones.

I believe Tyler Smith is the backup Left Tackle, where Bass would kick inside.
