If he really wanted to teach the lesson, he should have taken them on a field trip to a Philly game wearing Cowboys jerseys...then they'd understand prejudice, harrassment, and mob mentality.

If you start letting one bully push you around even if they are a teacher then you start letting them all do it. When I was in school I would not have sat down on the floor and I dare say neither of my two daughters nor would my two sons have done so either. I would have walked out of class and straight to the principal’s office to report the guy. I actually did it once during a dispute with a teacher so I'm not just talking hypothetically.

I just am very skeptical these days when people get accused of some things. Many times after hearing the other side of the story, things turn out to be vastly different.

Agreed. There is no way you can expect a 17 year old kid to stand up to a teacher who for all intents and purposes can control the kid. The teacher can give the kid an F and prevent him from going to any major college, ruining his future.

Letting one bully do it does not start a chain reaction. He reported him after the exam so at least they can't say he was being a trouble maker and refused to sit the test.

I wouldn't of let them do that to me but going to the principle after the fact doesn't seem to have done much if you read his comments in the second article.

He could of just failed the test and nothing would of happened after. All this doesn't make him a wuss. A 17 year old being intimidated by a grown man who is his teacher because the teacher is trying to embarrass him in class and threatened to fail him does not make him a wuss in anyway. Besides seeing as the article stats that quite a few students threw paper at him and didn't speak out makes me think not many will take his side.

And at the end of the day it was over football which has no place in the classroom. The teacher is in the wrong in every way. If it happened to one of your kids would you call them a wuss?

I don't care what the teacher told him not to do unless it is specifically against school rules.

No teacher would tell me that. I wouldn't have sat on the floor either. All it takes is one sentence to stop someone like this.

"Mr. Kelly, do you have a good lawyer?"

It would be interesting to hear what the students in the class thought of this.

Well, that won't be happening anytime soon, but I can just picture this teacher.

I have seen Steeler fans who think they are tough & macho because the Steelers play tough football, ...and they are "Steeler fans".

To me this just proves the teacher had malice for wearing the jersey. He didn't have any right to tell students they couldn't wear other team jerseys. The teacher is obviously a bully and his excuse that everyone was laughing because it was a joke could be an excuse for any bully. Thats what bullys do, make fun of their victims.
