Well I gotta think the scoring will dip once in awhile. 28 points in a game isn't too hard to believe.

Our offense is atrocious. Nothing different from past years though.

Their scoring will dip at some point but they're currently red hot coming off a 52 point game and will be facing a Cowboys defense that can't stop the pass. Our offense (passing attack) has been the strength of the team the past few seasons but this season it's dropped off. We're not scoring many points offensively. If you're not scoring offensively and you can't keep opposing QB's from throwing TD's you have no chance against Denver and Peyton Manning. We can only hope Denver takes the Cowboys lightly and Peyton finally has a bad day. Eventually he'll have a bad day throwing some picks and Denver will lose. No way can he continue this efficiency we've been seeing the past 4 weeks for an entire 16 game season. If Denver comes in over confident Sunday the Cowboys may have a chance but Peyton is going to have to be off his game.

If the Peyton Manning we've been seeing the past 4 games shows up Sunday It's going to be a very long day for the Cowboys. Denver will march up and down the field all day if Peyton has his A-game. Watching him surgically take defenses apart makes you wonder with as piss poor as the Cowboys pass coverage has been if Peyton isn't going to set some NFL records on Sunday. The Cowboys have been known to come up with a big game in games where no one is giving them a chance. They did it in 06 vs a 9-0 Indy team being led by Manning. They came up big in 09 vs a 13-0 Saints team so anything is possible on Sunday but Peyton is going to have to be off his game for the Cowboys to have any chance.

Maybe it hasn't been the case in the past, but i think this group does feed off the home field...especially the defense.

You mean Buster Douglas, right?

Even as big an underdog as Buster Douglas was vs Tyson he matched up better against Tyson than Marvis Frazier. The Cowboys pass defense vs Peyton Manning is going to be like Marvis Frazier trying to defend Mike Tyson. You have one of the worst pass defenses in the league going up against possibly the hottest QB the NFL has ever seen after 4 games.

We are not going to play a finer team all season long. We are not expected to win this game but what if we do? Surely this is the sort of game you can build a season on.

My friend, the problem isn't who the Cowboys can beat anymore. The problem is consistency and it is the only thing that will ultimately get the Cowboys where they want to go. Beating the Broncos will mean absolutely nothing if they lose to the Commanders the following week. You never know how two teams will match up but judging by the past game, there are some confidence issues in key areas of both the offense and defense. Manning is surely better than Rivers in dissecting the holes in cover-1,3 or 2 and it is a tall task for Kiffin and Marinelli to get these guys turned around and playing at a level that can even slow a Broncos offense that looks absolutely lethal. Claiborne and Carter specifically are in a crisis right now. They were mercilessly exposed Sunday and I am not sure if that goes away in one week. Manning can do what Rivers did even better. The Cowboys offense has to move on from the absence of Austin and do it with light speed or else.

The Washington and Philly game mean more than this one. If we lose this game and beat Philly and Washington it puts us at 4-0 in the NFC and 3-0 in our division.

The Cowboys need some momentum heading into those games which makes next Sundays game important. Washington just got their first win that may get them kick started. The Cowboys don't want to be riding a 2 game losing streak with a couple of important divisional games coming up.

I know this game is important on many levels. But if we can win 2 of the 3 Philly and Washington would be the two wins I'd want.

It won't be the Denver game that defines this team. It's going to be the aftermath. If there's anymore of that garbage Scandrick was spewing about the team just being the same team they always have been, you'll see the team start to fold.

I'll be mildly satisfied if we can keep them under a hundred.

Wanna bet $100 that the defense will keep them under 100 points? The Cowboys defense should be embarrassed. They better be on their game.

I'm not so sure any game early in the season is especially huge, though division games loom larger than others.

If I had to pick a near-term pivotal game, it would be Washington at home.

I guess up that point the rank order for the 1st 6 games would be:

  1. New York (opening week, home, division and conf game)____W
  2. Washington (home, division and conf game)____?
  3. St Louis (home game, conference game, non-division)___W
  4. Denver (home game, but non divsion, non-conf)___?
  5. San Diego (away games, non-division, non-conf)___L
  6. Kansas City...same as SD (away, non-conf)___L

This team can't handle a very accurate QB like Rivers was Sunday. Manning will be even more accurate....

I hope we get beat so badly that Jerry Jones calls it quits on the spot. Then real progress will begin.

This is going to be my first game at Cowboys, err AT&T Stadium and just reading through this thread has me wishing I chose a different game. Winning yesterday would have soothed losing a bit since I'd know we'd still be 3-2.

Regardless, I'm going to enjoy my flight and and enjoy my time with Cowboys Nation, letting them know that NY can rep our Cowboys just as much as those in Texas.
