Broncos steal Dawkins from Eagles

Do you know how much $$$$ they would have to tie up in FOUR #1 draft picks?

Probably about the same as the Jets did several years ago when they had 4 #1's (relative to the current cap situation anyway).

The Eagles have plenty of money under the cap to do it.

I'm not saying they will, but I always thought the Eagles were at a crossroads and could go one of two ways.

Retain and add to the pieces in place, or blow it up, trade off what they could, and rebuild.

Given the recent McNabb stories, I don't know that letting his LT, RT and FS go would be what he would consider encouraging.

But it's early yet....

the guy playing next to dawkins looked awful good last year.

and they will find a tackle in free agency or the draft. that is reid's bread and butter.

Like Winston Justice?

Seems to me that he finds guards well enough, but not tackles.

Still better than our recent track record though.

The Eagles are really watching William Moore, the S from Missouri. The Patriots are another team.

I wouldn't draft him, imo. He's too risky.

Yeah. Moore looked like crap at the Senior Bowl, then looked good at the Combine.

I would rather someone look good at the Senior Bowl while playing football if I was going to draft them.

rebuilding?

they are going to get better and stronger. Runyan was replaced by stacy andrews.

the eagles are getting better, make no mistake about it.

Yep. They just drilled the Giants twice in their back yard and beat Dallas
(gulp) 44-6. They are the team to beat. They just won't kick the bucket. Dallas could have ended the Reid/McNabb era, but now it's still going. Only the Cowboys...

Sorry to rain on the parade but it's not official yet.

The San Francisco Chronicle has reported that the team has agreed to terms with Philadelphia safety Brian Dawkins and that a press conference will be held Saturday. However, a source close to the situation said no press conference has been set. Dawkins could be headed to Denver but the deal is not done yet.

Nah, it's a done deal...

The Midget got what he wanted, just an ATM for the guy. It's over when the anouncement is done...but, it's done.

:p:

Commanders are going to the bowl...

DAWKINS FINALLY A DONE DEAL IN DENVER

After some conflicting reports on whether veteran safety Brian Dawkins had done a deal with the Denver Broncos, we're told that Dawkins finally has signed a contract to join the Broncos.

Dawkins was drafted by the Eagles way back in 1996, and he spent 13 seasons in Philly.

Seeing him in anything other than an Eagles uniform will be as bizarre as seeing Brett Favre as a Jet or Mike Vick as a member of the Mean Machine.

Don't rule out Shawn Andrews moving to RT.

The Eagles were talking about that at one point IIRC, when Runyan and Thomas leave... that Andrews could pop out to RT.

I dont see why so many are happy about this, Dawkins is old and blows bad in coverage now. There isnt a WR or TE on our roster he can play man to man against.

I wish the Eagles would have resigned to a huge deal.

Florio's PFT site blew up and now he's linked to an NBC site.

I think it's there.

His knees are shot from playing on horrible fields in Philly. Great player, loads of heart, just don't think he'll hold up.
