MINNEAPOLIS -- Tempers flared Sunday at the Metrodome after Minnesota’s final touchdown of a 34-3 playoff victory over Dallas. Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking sprinted toward the Vikings’ sideline, taunting coach Brad Childress and later calling the late score “classless.”

Vikings nose tackle Pat Williams, meanwhile, said Brooking was lucky to escape the Minnesota sideline in one piece.

"We don’t care what Keith Brooking says,” Williams said. “He was about to get his *** whupped on our sideline over there. It don’t matter. Nobody said anything when they blew out the Eagles [the past two weeks]. It’s the playoffs. It ain’t no regular-season game. If you lose, you go home. We take no pity on them. Do they expect us to? I don’t care about no Brooking. He can say whatever he wants to say.”

To recap: Ahead 27-3 late in the fourth quarter, Childress left his starters in the game. The Cowboys gave up the ball on downs at their 37-yard line with 5:26 remaining, and the Vikings threw three passes on their ensuing six-play drive. The final one was an 11-yard touchdown pass to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe on fourth-and-3 with 1:55 remaining.

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips acknowledged that the Vikings ran up the score, but he didn't seem particularly bothered by it. But Brooking was about to take the last score in stride.

"I thought it was classless," he told me. "I thought it was B.S. Granted, we get paid to stop them, but we had zero timeouts left. I didn’t think there was any call for that."

Told of Brooking’s comments, Shiancoe laughed and said: “OK, we apologize. I’m sorry. Better?”

Feel free to weigh in both this post and over at SportsNation.

I can't wait for the trip to minnesota next season if this team has any balls (i question that right now) they'll make sure they get some payback for this next season

There was no need to call play action pass into the endzone but they did it. Now they will have to live with it when we play next year.

He should let it go, it looks worse on him than it does on them.
It's not a pity league and it's your choice to show some or not; if you choose to don't think it's general practice.

I agree, but remember Childress came from Philly and they are the most classless team in the league. Also, I think Childress was "Paying us back" for playing that Sha-na-na song at the end of the game and rubbing it in the Eagles face...

I personally don't care about paying anyone back, I just want to win the Division, then the conference, and ultimately the Super Bowl, that's the only true revenge.

Maybe the Cowboys should stop celebrating after they break a 5 yard run or make a mundane tackle.

I have a feeling that the Boys' nuts are somewhere in Mn. laying on the cold cold ground after todays debacle.

We didn't run up the score against the Eagles though in both weeks. So what was he talking about?

Brooking went over to say something about the classeless score to Favre, but overpursued and found Pat Williams instead.

God, I hope Jason Williams is the answer. We need an ILB with speed/athleticism/coverage ability.

The Vikings will probably get their teeth kicked next week. Just watch let those bozos talk about us now. Their coach is a fugly *******, and their entire organization reeks of no class. Let em talk, and go **** yourself pat. You will get injuried.

Would that be the game where we ran up the score.....getting zero points in the fourth quarter?

If you just looked at the score (like I'm assuming Pat did), then it looks like this.

But remember when Philly complained how Romo and the offense were still passing at the end of the last regular season in the game after the game was well over? No one here complained (other than wanting Romo out to prevent injury). Remember how Philly was going to use that as a rallying point? lol.

Save it for next year Brooking. Then roll into Favre's knee and take him out for the year.

Sportsmanship my ***.
