LOL! This HAS to be a joke...right?

PFT may post crap sometimes.

But factual stuff like this that can easily be verified -- rarely are they ever wrong on it. the guy does have some legit sources it appears.

This was on the Redzone. At least he is in a division far, far away. We would have passed on him in the third then.

Brooks chosen by Bengals in Supplemental Draft
The Cincinnati Bengals have selected Virginia linebacker in the Supplemental Draft.

Brooks was a national defensive player of the year coming out of high school and had an outstanding 2004 season for Virginia in 2004. He was injured for his junior season.

Brooks was to return for his senior season but was kicked off the University of Virginia squad by coach Al Groh for repeated violations of team rules which reportedly involved testing positive for marijuana.

More info to come.

When you're the Bengals, do you really have to worry about tarnishing your image?

What are you talking about?

Brooks is a high character guy on that team.

Cincinnati will have their own version of the Mean Machine.

Truly comical.

PFT is going to have a field day with this. Orange jumpsuit uniforms are being fed into Photoshop as we speak.

good.. im just glad we can stop talking about the guy..

on another note, though, he really could help shore up that Cincy D.. Odell Thurman was a stud for them last year, and him and Brooks could make a pretty good duo.. we all know their offense is deadly, but that D is getting better.. and they didnt lose any starters, offense or defense, this offseason.. if Palmer is back at full health, watch out..

This makes me wonder if Odell Thurman doesn't have some serious issues behind the scenes.

Bengals use third-round pick to select Brooks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By John Clayton
ESPN.com

The Bengals jumped in front of the 49ers and other teams to select Ahmad Brooks in the third round of the supplemental draft.

Brooks was considered a first-round pick before having troubles at the University of Virginia. He suffered a knee injury last season and some off-field problems led him to being kicked off the football team.

Brooks' weight ballooned to around 290 pounds before he started going on a diet and then started working out with trainer Chip Smith in Atlanta. For his workout for NFL teams in June, he was 260 pounds, and he had decent but not great times in the 40.

In the past couple of weeks, Brooks started training with his former coach at Hargrave Military Academy. He lifted for two hours and did hard running drills for two hours.

Brooks told his agent, Greg Williams, he was in the best shape of his life.

It was interesting the Bengals would take him ahead of other teams such as the 49ers or Miami Dolphins. Character was an issue with Brooks, but it's a big theme of the Bengals' offseason. Bengals draft choices Frostee Rucker and A.J. Nicholson have had off-the-field incidents. Wide receiver Chris Henry, a third-round choice last year, has been arrested four times in the past year.

To acquire Brooks, the Bengals gave up a third-round choice in the 2007 draft.

I've seen various hints that he's looking at a suspension -- I'm just glad we didn't take Thurman -- he's exactly the kind of problem that you would expect based on his scouting report

Yeah, he skipped their mandatory mini-camp for "undisclosed personal reasons".
