Browns give Myles Garrett a new deal

What are the Browns doing? They are terrible. They should be gathering draft assets and reducing payroll so they can push massive amount of salary cap to future years. Embracing the pain would give them a future… This is how teams stay bad for a long time. At least he’s not in Philly or Washington.

This "next guy up" mentality regarding contracts makes owners look incredibly stupid.

There is no way that Parsons should make the same or more than Garrett. but he will, because that's how contracts work in this backward league.
He will because he’s younger and already has half the stats Garrett has who has played 4 more years.

Clearly there was posturing on both sides. Browns saying no new deal and Garrett saying he wanted a trade.

and each knowing that in the end they would make a deal

Yeah, one trick poney Parsons should make more or the same than the back to back defensive player of the year because he's....let me check....younger?

Garrett is 29 years old. He's in his prime.

IIRC, it wasn't all that long ago the Browns had several early picks, even having 3(?) in the first round of one draft, and they couldn't do squat with it.

Micah simply has not impressed like Garrett has. and Garrett has been on a team that is much worse.

I doubt there is a good case for paying Micah as much.

Wow, Garrett gets a new deal. And somehow fans want to bag on Jerry for not doing something with Micah.

NEWSFLASH …. They do not have to get a deal done with Micah at this point. He can play on his current contact.

No I’m just telling you what’s going to happen. And parsons hasn’t even entered his prime yet. This is how contracts work and the cowboys are once again late to the dance.

"This is how contracts work"

That was my whole point. It's stupid that billionaire owners have allowed this next man up junk to flourish.

It's why we have a loser QB as the highest-paid player ever. Because "That's how contracts work".

" I'm done with Cleveland until they get serious about winning, I wanna play for a contender on the last part of my career and go to a Superbowl". Here's 125 million guaranteed money Miles so shut up and we can worry about the draft. " Okay guys, thanks."
