One should remember that untill late in 2004 Johnson looked like just another 2000 yd college bust. He had actually produced less as a RB then Bryant had as a WR. I have to laugh at those trying to blame everyone BUT AB for his problems. He brought this on himself - no one else. All he had to do was control himself and put out the effort. When Glenn went down in 2004 he would have had the job. With Glenns previous record of getting hurt virtually every season that was not that much of a gamble. But he acted like the spoiled brat he is and where has it gotten him? Getting over 1000 yds as a WR should pretty much ensure that you at least stay where you are; but it does not look that way. If he wants to blame someone he needs to look in the mirror.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Does anyone remember the Larry Johnson for AB trade rumors? Could we have actually made that trade or was it just speculation by a few fans?

It was a rumor for sure, but the price was more than just a straight up trade. It would have cost us a choice in addition to Bryant to acquire Johnson. I think some fans really missed that point.

You can't compare one guy to two. Combined AB and B. Edwards went 101 1521 7 where Key and Glenn went 133 1975 13. For the record our offense struggled as well with one of the worst O-lines in the business.
The browns are an offenseive juggernaut... The fact that Braylon Edwards was a little threat, actually hurt bryants production...

:hammer:

it's pointless, some people will always be blinded by his potential, if he was so productive, and Cleveland has money under the cap, they would make a concerted effort to retain him, but they're not, so...

I heard Kansas City was offering 2 5ths for Bryant, and that was the most that was actually offered

I totally agree with that last point. I get the feeling that Keyshawn instigated some stuff with him too and Parcell's favortism came into effect. Really for the second year straight when you come right down to it, first with Glenn just simply being signed and taking his #2 spot, which I'm sure he viewed as favortism there also. Though personally I believe if Parcells had been more sure about his own future here in Dallas at the time that he perhaps would have spent a little more time working with Bryant, instead opting for the 'quickfix', the "devils" he already knows.

:jerk:

yeah, that hurt Bryant so much that it made him start dropping balls

For a cheap 3rd or 4th-WR, what about signing a FA like dependable David Givens, jumping Jabar Gaffney, or the rapid Reche Caldwell? Anyone of those guys would make us forget Whats-His-Face and Who-Dat....

Bryant is Mary Poppins compared to TO.

I'd have no problem seeing Bryant back...I'd hate to see Owens here.

AB was simply and is simply not gonna be happy anywhere he isn't the absolute sunshine. Thats how he ended up in Pittsburgh coming out of Florida. He didn't wanna be any colleges 2nd or 3rd WR.

Hearing him speak here it was obvious he is most caught up on himself. Ridiculously so. That kind of cocky works for guys like T.O. who have proven something but Bryant has proven jack squat.

His numbers in CLE are like the leading scorer on a bad NBA team. Someone has to get the stats even if they are meaningless.

If he was a good teammate he would be signed already long term. Its not a huge cap hit to sign guys. He is being jettisonned to allow Braylon Edwards more touches without Bryant going postal.

AB is a great player as long as he doesn't have to share the ball.

Any anyone comparing Key and AB needs a few game tapes to review. Key blocks and runs the routes that are called then complains. AB doesn't block, runs his own made up 'I'm open route's and complains. Big difference as one guy actually does his job.

We'll see how AB does when he has to go to a team that isn't forced to make him the #1 WR.

Oh, I dunno about that...

..the Browns have a TON of money tied up between Winslow and Edwards...Bryant just had his best year....I'm sure he's asking for some serious bucks.

I still think the guy has great talent...in essence, we cut him....yeah, we got Quincy Morgan but that's the equivalent of getting nothing in return.

Bryant may be a bit of a head case but the talent and last season, the production, are there.

Anytime I watch the kid's highlite video's, it just hurts. The kid was SO good. He was just so lazy and such a moron. If he could have improved his route running, he could have been a top WR in this league.

He went to college there and could fit right in, to the extent he would ever be able to fit in anywhere.

hmm. after Pittsburg passed on him in the draft? that should have let everyone in the league know that there were serious questions about it. most teams took him off their board at that point.

but Jerry..... he trades up to get him.

I was at the Monday night game...Giant Stadium...Parcells first year...Bryant ran that out pattern right in front of where I was sitting and he ran it perfectly...made a nice catch...and took a shot from the Giant DB...held on to the ball...and never came back into the game because of the hit he took.

He made some amazing catches while in a Cowboy uniform...

Sorry things didn't work out...

Well....let's not forget how many busted routes Keyshawn had his first year here..in fact, two ended up with Testaverde getting picked off...

If Bryant had gotten into it with the starting QB the way Key did with Bledsoe, this entire place would have gone ballistic...but when it's Keyshawn (Bill's guy) it's excused...even though this is the same Johnson who's book was entitled, "Just throw me the damn ball"...the same Johnson who seriously dissed Chrebet...the same Johnson who the Bucs paid to stay home.

Now, I'm not knocking Johnson..believe it or not, I like what he brings to the game (just not as a starting WR) ....just pointing out what I see as a double standard.

It isn't a double standard -- it is about having skins on the wall. you earn the right to bark at players. AB never earned it.
