Lol Quinn was the only reason our defense became respectable. Led the league in turnovers in 2 of the past 3 seasons, and was in the top 5 in turnovers the one year we didn't. Our defense is taking a step back with estrogen filled Zimmer
Became ,WAS, past tense

his Ds typically get figured out and other teams adjust and he got outcoached and made no adjustments and got drilled. His actually MO is blowing leads and once team sees his GP and adjusts like Buffalo did last year and played a high school run offense and destroyed Quinn,. Look I appreciate what queen did early on but his D's turned into just as bad as Nolan literally all our losses last year including the win in Seattle yeah the Seattle game where office had to not punt to win the game literally have to score on every drive it became laughable so good luck in Washington it'll work for about six games, i went team see what they're gonna do WITH OUR BACKUPS LOL came off our team. they're going to adjust he wont and Washington will realize what ATL and Dallas did, ..

Yeah, that Quinn defense was so good, it gave up TDs in 6 in 7 drives against the Packers in the last playoffs. Even with lesser talent, Zimmer's defenses won't do that.
3 of them we're deep inside our own territory to start the game because of Dak Prescott..... the 63M/a year guy

Quinn's defenses became swiss cheese at the worst possible times. He teed off successfully on the Danny Dimes, Sam Howell types. I think the players liked him but against good teams, they looked like undisciplined garbage...
eventually we'll be saying this about zimmer, cycle goes on

Youre absolutely right. No discipline and unnecessary penalties at the worst time.

The DL of this team is suspect. They have trouble with gap integrity, so if Zimmer can fix that it may help a lot.

People are expecting less turnovers but they might come anyway if the team is more disciplined at the LoS.

We'll see. I'm not overly optimistic either. They didn't do much to help the Dline and now we are down Sam Williams. He wasn't all world but who are they going to replace him with?

For those that don't want to watch video....
  • Broaddus said that offense was blowing some plays and defense was talking crap. Zimmer basically yelled at them "Shut up you %*#$*#*$#* because it's going to be you blowing it next!" Nice to have a hard-nosed coach in the mix that won't let the lights blind them.
  • Broaddus said that there should be no reason for Edoga to be on 1st team now. Said Guyton turned heads when he played against Tank. Not as good against Parsons, thinks he was fatigued and sloppy technique, but thinks he has proven enough to be on starter team now.
  • Also positive was that Carson was getting first team reps with Diggs out. But sounds like they were playing all the rookies heavily on first teams. Coach McCarthy warned Broaddus not to get too hyped, still no pads, and will really see what happens next week, but that Mac was happy with the mental preparation of most of rookies.
Zimmer is going to be so good for this defense I think. Players were way too comfortable with DQ, I think, and Zimm should be able to bring a lot more schematically to get more out of the talent.

Which is crazy to say, considering how much I couldn't stand him during his last tenure lol.

That’s a reflection on the Cowboys not Quinn. Quinn has his SB rings and SB appearance. Quinn never told these guys to play well against bad teams and suck against the good ones l.
Quinn's scheme did not work against good offenses.

You can't simply line up and play man against teams with good passing games and multiple receiving threats.

Yeah saying we wasted years is too much especially since we have no idea what Zimmer would do. Defense did some legendary things I have t seen around here in forever.
DQ brought some discipline to the defense and made it very respectable. But not enough discipline as they still had too many penalties and yards. And mental mistakes, allowing drives to continue at very key moments. Nor made those stops.

I was glad he was here, as we had some of the best defenses they had in years, and years. But something was still lacking.

But his playing Safeties as LB's caught up to him. And hit a buzzsaw called GB at the wrong time.
I do not think they will be worse with Zimmer. But not sure if I expect them to be better. However, if more discipline and less mental mistakes they can be better.
But now, how do they replace Sam Williams. As I am sure Zimmer had some good plans how to use him. It is early so they can adjust.

Once again that's a reflection on the personnel this team built. Because I'm looking at him in Washington and he sure seems to not mind having Bobby Wagner.....

It's Quinn's fault they didn't invest in any linebackers?

LVE and Overshown got hurt it's not like any team can absorb that. But if your defense depends on talent at MLB then your defense is bad. The Seahawks have had one of the worst run defenses in the league the last two years. It's not like Bobby Wagner matters much.

And yes, it is Quinn's fault that they were constantly at disadvantageous numbers in the box - the Buffalo game in particular. He never schemed anything. Like how much more talent on a defense do you need than what they had last year? They had the best Edge group in football, a top-10 DT, solid CB play and reliable safeties. Even with the injuries, they were as talented - player to player - as just about any other defense in the league.

He was forced to play safeties at linebacker and your defensive tackles sucked. Scapegoating Quinn is crazy.

Nope. DQ sucked. I'm not scapegoating him, but he didn't make anything better.

Was simply a product of the exorbitant DL talent that allowed him to sit in man 1, and an offense that allowed him to play aggressive consistently. I mean, it isn't hard to say "11 go get the QB and DBs play man"

I was done with him after the Washington game on Thanksgiving when guys were just wide open all the time.

Loses his All Pro corner…loses his starting linebacker….no linebackers….no defensive tackles….Quinn fault. The guy who took two different defenses to the SB lol.

Him playing safeties at linebacker was not by choice. What other option did he have?

I don't care what he did a decade ago. It was a different league. The ATL defense wasn't even good.

But...you're still making my point. If he needs all of this talent to be a good DC, then he's not a good DC. He comes from the Jason Garrett school of lining up and beating them. He never schemed anything, and it always got exposed by offenses with levels of talent.

DQ will be a better HC than DC, I think. But he needs someone to do the X and O work.
