If you don’t think Gallup will be ready till game 3 then you might as well put him on PUP
It’s one game difference

Isnt Waletzo out for the season? i read he was having shoulder surgery.overall this projection is not great.i still think they will add some guys from FA or trade and i dont see Gallup missing 4 games or LVE cut.

I thought so too but there was some chatter in the last week that his progress means he might be able to avoid surgery, at least until the offseason.

Even still, are we really counting on a rookie with a bum shoulder to our solution at swing OT? Geezus.

Why are people thinking Gallup will be back before Game 4? I get it, he's running and running some routes but that's a far cry from being able to play in a game. If he plays in September, that would 7 months post surgery, which would be remarkable. IMO, it's more likely he's held out 6 games than he's back in less than 4.

We'll see if they place him on pup but Connor just made a good point......if they believe he's going to still need four or more games, why not pup?

No idea but then again the Cowboys often aren't the best when it comes to gauging injuries, recoveries, etc.

I posted in another thread that there was a study by a rehab entity that showed, on average, WRs needed almost 11 months to return and make a full recovery. Gallup playing by Game 3 or 4 would put that recovery post surgery, at 8 months.

I’m going 4th RB or 4th TE depending on which player most likely to be claimed off PS.

Ridgeway cut over keeping LVE possibly only because of Parsons/Barr role, but have hard time believing they will keep 2 veteran LBs. Doesn’t feel like Ridgeway has shown them enough to keep though. Sucks on that LVE draft pick, both him and Jaylon from future hopefuls to injured ducks.

I hope they are listening to Bones. ST have shot up. If Goodwin needs to stay then he stays.

Scared to death of the swing tackle situation if Ball hasn’t proven squat. With Tyron’s injuries, there’s your season killer on top of a questionable WR corps. Run Dak Run!

I don't think we need either 4 TEs OR 7 CBs. Carry 3 TEs and 5CBs, put Basham, LVE and Gifford back. I can be talked into CJ Goodwin over gifford. Other option is to stash Bell on Practice squad. Don't need >4 safeties.

Doesn't make sense to have him on active 53 taking up a spot for four games when they can pup him. Again, if they don't, I think we will see him in September. JMO

Maybe but Jerry and Stephen may be thinking he'll be back in September and find out that he's not ready.

Again, if the data shows NFL WRs take 10-11 to make a recovery/return and they expect Gallup back in 8, hmmmmmm. Maybe he's a fast healer.

Not if you're kidding here but it's not a reach. Also had an athletic trainer once tell me some players can return a bit sooner with extra layers of rehab. In other words, doing 10/20% more than prescribed.

Not sure Im on board with all of these especially wolf hunter but Im on board with saying bye to ball and Im not sure Id keep Wright

Keeping Wright over LVE is silly. And Waletzko should go to IR.

But I agree that Devin Harper should take Luke Gifford's spot on ST.

Mika Tafua needs to make 53 as well, he's better than Basham.

Otherwise I'm in agreement with the BTB 53 man projection, more accurate than one below in any event.

Both Gallup and Washington should be on PUP.

Gallup can stay on PUP.
Washington not eligible for PUP. He had practiced. One practice you can't be on PUP. This scenario is he is on the 53 initial roster, then moved to short term IR.

There may be a way he is waived injured, and being a vet player, he may be eligible not to be on waivers. Then he can revert to IR, but not sure if that means short term or out for the year.
I doubt they just put him on IR, because he would be out for the year, and he only has a 1 year deal I believe.

I think it will come down to how close is he to returning come final cut down.

meh...not sure we go with 4 LBs, that's a little thin. I expect one or two of the DL men to be traded, perhaps to get a better swing tackle. why go 4 deep at TE? not sure if Wilson survice at saftey, specially if we go 6 deep at CB. and goodwin for special teams!? whhaaatt?
while i agree I think the thought process is go heavy at safety and Kearse is a LB 60% of time

Wright will not clear waivers. Yall are funny when it comes to him. I think he'll be like Jeff Heath to most fans. Clearly a decent player but first impressions won't allow yall to admit it.

Godwin was another comparison but he had his surgery the first week of January and as noted, he's 4-6 weeks ahead of Gallup from that perspective plus everyone heals differently. There is talk Godwin may not be cleared for the first game either.

Quarterback (2)
Dak Prescott, Will Grier

Running back (3)
Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, Malik Davis, going with Davis here, he looks faster and has some juice and seems like more power

Wide receiver (6), 7 once Gallup and Washington return, unless Houston or Fehoko not doing well or playing much, or a need at other positions.
CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown, Jalen Tolbert, James Washington, then moved to short term IR
KaVontae Turpin, Simi Fehoko
Dennis Houston, goes to PS once Gallup returns
*Michael Gallup, stays on PUP and misses 4 games

Tight end (3)
Dalton Schultz, Jake Ferguson, Sean McKeon

Offensive line (9)
Tyron Smith, Tyler Smith, Tyler Biadasz, Zack Martin, Terence Steele
Connor McGovern, Matt Farniok, Matt Waletzko, Josh Ball, yes he makes it for some reason

Interior defensive line (5)
Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighiuzuwa, Trysten Hill, Quinton Bohanna, Carlos Watkins
John Ridgeway to PS

EDGE (6)
DeMarcus Lawrence, Sam Williams, Dante Fowler, Tarell Basham, Dorance Armstrong, Chauncey Golston

Linebacker (6)
Micah Parsons, Jabril Cox, Anthony Barr, LVE, Devin Harper, Malik Jefferson

Cornerback (6)
Trevon Diggs, Anthony Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Kelvin Joseph
CJ Goodwin, mainly for ST's, as I keep on waiting for him to go, he offers nothing at CB
Nahshon Wright, I hope he goes, but draft stays they keep him, hoping Bland replaces him or at least Goodwin.

DaRon Bland, I hope he makes it, but depends on what I stated above. I like him, but I think we as fans ar win that..looks great is PS games mode.

Safety (4)
Jayron Kearse, Malik Hooker, Donovan Wilson, Israel Mukuamu

M. Bell, I really want to add Bell, but who goes in place of him. Possibly one of the OL or DL, Maybe a LB in Harper or Jefferson.

Special teams (3)
K Brett Maher, P Bryan Anger, LS Jake McQuaide

They may very well be
My point was if you think he can be back by game 2 you keep him on roster so he doesn’t have to miss more games
If not you put him on PUP
If he is on pup he misses 4 games
I don’t know how far he is from coming back
He is out running some routes with Dak after practice but not sure that means he’s close to ready or not
