Safety (5)

Jayron Kearse
Malik Hooker
Donovan Wilson
Israel Mukuamu
Markquese Bell

The Cowboys have their three starters at safety, and Israel Mukuamu has stepped his game up this summer. But this safety group, and the decision to go five deep, is why Dallas goes so light at linebacker.

Last year, Jayron Kearse lined up in the box as a de facto linebacker almost as much as he did at safety, which allowed Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson to see the field more. Undrafted rookie Markquese Bell has been impressing in a similar role this year too. In short, the Cowboys go light at linebacker and deep at safety because they can comfortably play Kearse and Bell in the box if it comes down to it.

I also think i like this
How nice is it to have depth and talent at the S position??

I posted in another thread that there was a study by a rehab entity that showed, on average, WRs needed almost 11 months to return and make a full recovery.

exactly. no reason to get excited or push for early return. if anything, it gets them reinjured. let him heal and bring him back based on a realistic timeline.

Quarterback (2)
Dak Prescott, Will Grier

Running back (3)
Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard, Malik Davis, going with Davis here, he looks faster and has some juice and seems like more power

Wide receiver (6), 7 once Gallup and Washington return, unless Houston or Fehoko not doing well or playing much, or a need at other positions.
CeeDee Lamb, Noah Brown, Jalen Tolbert, James Washington, then moved to short term IR
KaVontae Turpin, Simi Fehoko
Dennis Houston, goes to PS once Gallup returns
*Michael Gallup, stays on PUP and misses 4 games

Tight end (3)
Dalton Schultz, Jake Ferguson, Sean McKeon

Offensive line (9)
Tyron Smith, Tyler Smith, Tyler Biadasz, Zack Martin, Terence Steele
Connor McGovern, Matt Farniok, Matt Waletzko, Josh Ball, yes he makes it for some reason

Interior defensive line (5)
Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighiuzuwa, Trysten Hill, Quinton Bohanna, Carlos Watkins
John Ridgeway to PS

EDGE (6)
DeMarcus Lawrence, Sam Williams, Dante Fowler, Tarell Basham, Dorance Armstrong, Chauncey Golston

Linebacker (6)
Micah Parsons, Jabril Cox, Anthony Barr, LVE, Devin Harper, Malik Jefferson

Cornerback (6)
Trevon Diggs, Anthony Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Kelvin Joseph
CJ Goodwin, mainly for ST's, as I keep on waiting for him to go, he offers nothing at CB
Nahshon Wright, I hope he goes, but draft stays they keep him, hoping Bland replaces him or at least Goodwin.

DaRon Bland, I hope he makes it, but depends on what I stated above. I like him, but I think we as fans ar win that..looks great is PS games mode.

Safety (4)
Jayron Kearse, Malik Hooker, Donovan Wilson, Israel Mukuamu

M. Bell, I really want to add Bell, but who goes in place of him. Possibly one of the OL or DL, Maybe a LB in Harper or Jefferson.

Special teams (3)
K Brett Maher, P Bryan Anger, LS Jake McQuaide

I think this is a solid attempt. Ball's sticking to the 53 might depend on if Jerry and Stephen wake up and realize they have an OT problem and go out and get a vet post cuts.

Personally, I might keep Ridgeway on the 53 and take my chances cutting Watkins but they seem to like Watkins.

Seems like the smart thing to do was bring in a vet like Fuller or Hilton as insurance here. Let Gallup take all the time he needs and then at least you run out a top 3 of Lamb, Fuller/Hill and Tolbert and things are OK. If Gallup comes back and is healthy, you have a legitimate top three of Lamb, Gallup and Fuller/Hilton (well until Fuller got hurt, LOL).

I think they keep Bell over Malik Jefferson. Ball will be replaced by a vet at final cut-downs. Otherwise this looks pretty good to me.

Yes Ball was a tough call for me, but for lack of anyone better I added him. As they typically keep 9, with Tyron and his issues. I still think they look to the waivers if not a trade.

Ridgeway I just have not seen enough to keep him, but that is just me. This could be interesting also.
If they feel strong about the rotation without Watkins in the mix, yes I see them keeping Ridgeway for development.

We aren’t cutting LVE. And I don’t think we are keeping McKeon this year.

They typically carry 5 DEs. So who is making it over Golston?

Also note, they are playing Golston at DT in certain situations, so he has some value beyond just DE.

EDIT: Totally missed that he didn't have Basham in there. Hmmmmm.

There's a real dilemma for that last spot or two.

Lots of thinking to do for the coaches.

Could this be the trickle down effect of crapping the bed with WRs? Could the Cowboys be thinking that their answer to being light on experience at WR is that they'll play way more 12 and 22 personnel groupings? Hence why they might need 4 TEs, instead of 3?

Yes, sir.

Because you also have jumbo packages, etc. where they use three TEs, and you need one for a back up, ST.

Hendershot looked great on ST.

Cutting LVE is stupid. Why even eesign him? It's not like hes played bad. He actually looks good. This is clickbait

And I don't take anyone serious that has Joseph over Wright

Wright will not clear waivers. Yall are funny when it comes to him. I think he'll be like Jeff Heath to most fans. Clearly a decent player but first impressions won't allow yall to admit it.

I agree.

Wright is not a bad player.

When he got beat, it wasn't by much, and a couple of them were just perfect routes and passes.

I was even a little too hard on him. Then I went back and looked. And he's not bad. Just needs to tighten up like 5% more.

Wright has not been good. Will he make the team? Probably. Should he make the team? Probably not if we're being honest. Bossman hasn't been good either so...

where is Gholston?
To be honest, I don't see him making the team. I know he was drafted by Mike's team and everyone thinks he has "flex" and that is valuable but I just don't see it.
He isn't a better pass rusher than Basham and he isn't a better DT than anyone else inside.
