Except he was late to all of his receivers or flat out missed them being open. Throwing to the outside receivers is going to be less comp % wise than throwing to Beasley or Witten at 7 yards. Where you see his struggles is when he throws and his receiver has to stop, dive or contort to catch balls because the ball is not at the spot its supposed to be gameplan wise. Remember the pick 6 on a pass to RB he throw 3 feet over his head feeling a rush that really was not there and the outside DB not even covering the RB intercepts and returns. If you are erratic short you are going to be erratic long.Dak won't be chained to Dez or dominant route reliance for development. That will get the ball out much earlier, generally, this season.
The writer starts with a premise but doesn’t actually prove the premise.
It’s going to be an interesting year for Dak. There won’t be a ton of excuses if this passing game fails. He’s not nearly as bad as some would like you to think but he absolutely had some issues last year that need to get fixed.
Anyone denying that is a total fool.

Hate to break the news, but the article (it's a fan blog) is pure trash.
Look at the first half from second half season splits; Dak's YPA and comp. % even with Tyron and Zeke.
Anything that continues that narrative of the herd mentality will be accepted as gospel here. His problems were blatant last season and was called out by analysts, other players, former players and Garrett himself. It's cool though, nothing is wrong with Dak and it's all the receivers, coordinators, fans, mascot, coach, offensive line fault. I wonder if Romo would have got this kind of pass if he went 10 consecutive quarters without a TD?
The Dak naysayers and Garrett bashing mongers are firmly entrenched.....and are one in the same.I've been saying this for a long time. The Dak haters are just irrational.
Always make up points to suite your own arguments?
Sorry, your version of proof is vainly lacking in validation.
Fact is, Dak was very good - both in the short and long passing game.
Sorry if that isn't convenient for a burn barrel buddy orientation test...
Our receivers were worse than average. The play calling was lets say, uninspiring and honestly, lazy. Worse than that, the left side of the oline was complete trash. We thought we could put anyone out there at LG..and we had no real plan for swing tackle. It failed miserably.I haven’t written a post in a while, but seeing comments that continue to reflect ignorance about Dak Prescott’s performance the past two years has spurred me into action.
I humbly ask that people read the whole article and digest it before sticking with their anti-Dak beliefs.
A few inconvenient facts for those that believe Dak isn’t a franchise QB.
COMPLETION PERCENTAGE
Rookie year: 67.8
Year two: 62.9
It fell off a bit with more pressure and sacks given up by the offensive line and the absence of Zeke for six games, combined with some pretty horrendous game planning by coaches. Also, the fact that Dez was no longer a true number one receiver was a massive problem, because he was still demanding excessive targets and getting them.
That second year percentage for Dak was still better than Carson Wentz or Jared Goff.
YARDS PER COMPLETION
If you believe Dak is only good for short passes, your beliefs are wrong. Sorry, but the facts clearly blow up that myth.
COMPLETED AIR YARDS
Rookie year: 7.5
Second year: 6.6
His rookie year, Dak had an average completion percentage through the air that was higher than Tom Brady, Carson Wentz or Drew Brees.
As everyone knows, the offensive line had protection issues in 2017. Dak had less time to throw. Zeke was gone for six games.

wins in the playoffs are important in the nfl that's what most people go onAll that matters in this league is wins. This is especially true at the QB position. I'd personally take Aikman over Marino any day of the week.
He will be judged by Ws and not any other stat.
those receivers played well that year. The next, not so much.Linehan did the team no favors. But they were the exact same WR’s he was throwing to when he had a great year in ‘16. The entire WR Corp all regressed in the off season? How does that even make sense??
I know I’m beating a dead horse, but the coaching staff failed the team last year. No doubt both Dak and the WR’s could have been better, but opposing coordinators figured out our scheme (because it was the exact same from the year before) and we had absolutely no counter punch. Just more insisting on execution rather than game plan to help the offense.
So what exactly is a Dak hater. Someone that sees his warts and does not pretend that everything is fine it must be the 52 other people on the teams that have issues.
I watched all but 1 game last year. Instead of leading his receivers into YAC he led them into tackles, not blow up tackles, but essentially made them slow down or stop which led to limited YAC. Who is going to believe every receiver on this team failed but the one guy that was throwing it was on point. If anything his receivers made catches in spite of some of his "issues".
Both passing scheme and personnel both has changed. That makes any projection dependent upon concept and quality of players asked to execute changes.
With that in mind, who can someone even begin to throw out labels of tool?
Such contributions...c'mon.
