What time is it? Time to get bold, of course.
It’s time for the annual Dallas Cowboys visit to the home of the Washington Commanders. NFC East battles are always must-see affairs.
The Cowboys swept Washington last season, and their first dubayoo of an 11-game win streak actually happened there. It’s a good vibes place if you’re the Cowboys.
Two years ago Dan Bailey kicked a game-winner after DeSean Jackson forgot how to return punts. Yes, good vibes are surrounding us and we’re going to ride them even though Bailey won’t be kicking for quite some time.
Whatever does happen in Washington, whatever good vibes we encounter, it’s time to predict them. We don’t predict normal vibes though, we predict boldly! Here are five bold predictions for the Cowboys game in Washington.
Cole Beasley sets a season high in receptions
Cole Beasley has fallen into a pattern this season when it comes to receptions. In his first three games he recorded 3, 4, and 1 respectively. In the next set of three? 3, 4, and 1 respectively.
If the trend were to continue then Beasley would have three receptions, but that’s boring. We want bold, and it just so happens that the middle of the field in Washington will be waiting for Cole.
This feels like one of those games where Cole Beasley just camps out midfield and piles up receptions like RJ and oatmeal cookies. We’re looking for five receptions, and we’re going to get them.
The Cowboys go for a short-ish fourth down around the Washington 35-yard line
Mike Nugent hasn’t connected on a field goal from over 50 yards since January 3rd, 2016. He’s attempted, and obviously missed, three since then.
The reality is that the Dallas Cowboys don’t have the safety blanket that Dan Bailey usually provides them for the stretch that he’s out. It isn’t just a “let’s kick it” sort of thing anymore.
We could see this impact how the Cowboys handle certain situations. Imagine them facing 4th and 3 on the Washington 35-yard line. A Mike Nugent 52-yard field goal doesn’t sound too swell there, and it makes sense that Dallas would go for it.
Taco Charlton will record his first NFL sack
If not now, when?
The Washington Commanders are literally signing dudes to play offensive line on Saturday. Seriously!
Washington signed OL Orlando Franklin and G Arie Kouandjio off Baltimore practice squad and on to its roster.

This could be the worst offensive line that the Cowboys have faced if some guys don’t play. Rookie first-round pick Taco Charlton has struggled, and this is his San Francisco 49ers game (even though the Cowboys played them last week).
This is the week Taco gets right. Right? Right?!
Chris Jones will put the Commanders behind their 30-yard line on every punt
The weather in Washington is supposed to be quite rough. Rain, wind, whatever, sloppy football seems to be on the way.
Chris Jones is in the “Best Punters in the NFL” club. I think they meet every Wednesday, I’ll double check. The point is, he’s able to put a football pretty much wherever he wants off his toe.
Given that there might not be as much roll, Chris Jones is going to drop some dimes with his punts. He’s not going to let the Commanders start a drive in front of their 30-yard line. All hail, Chris Jones.
DeMarcus Lawrence will end Week 8 as the NFL’s sack leader
We’ve seen Tank have dominant performances in Washington before (think back to that Bailey game-winner). He kind of owns the joint.
Lawrence trails only Calais Campbell of the Jacksonville Jaguars (what reality is this) in terms of sacks, and it’s only by half of one. Half! That’s easy money, baby.
Lucky for us, the Jaguars are on a bye this week (seriously explain this reality). All DeMarcus Lawrence needs is one full sack to surpass Calais Campbell. I’m sure Kirk Cousins will be happy to lend a helping hand.
