I liked the pick last year.. as the same empty headed posters trashed the Front Office and sometimes even claims of Escobar greatness arose from the same internet pundents who think berading is their duty of self aclamation with every single player move. ....until said F.O. move slaps them in the face. Enter sob story here.

The same genuis would have sold the farm for a Redshirt rookie QB, one who had all of 12 complete NFL passes to broken ribs and done for the pre-season as a prelude to his 3rd string bench warming year before being UNLEASHED .. for his eventual BUST in 2017. Kinda makes you Wentz.

I agree with others that Gathers getting signed to any team's 53 is unlikely.
And that makes Dallas being frightened to waive him all the more likely.

It is exactly the kind of miscalculation we have been making for quite a while.

Swaim's game most resembles Witten's style. Big guy that can block and can catch the ball. Not the same caliber, if course, but different style.

Escobar is supposed to mimic a guy like Jimmy Graham. Hanna is useful, but always hurt. Gaithers is a project that is nowhere near ready.

Swaim looks like a very good pick in case Witten went down. The run game could remain the same, and he's not useless in the passing game.

Hanna is always hurt?

He missed two games in four seasons.

They will probably go with 4 TEs when Hanna gets back. I think it's fair to rank the depth as Witten, Hanna, Swaim, Escobar, Traylor, Gathers. Gathers has a lot of upside to be developed but he's at the bottom.
You just wait. Witten will show his age and Escobar will emerge as No. 1. No need for outrage right now, just wait until December

And I agree with you. I initially thought he was too valuable to risk to waivers, but from everything I've heard and read, he's just too far away at this point from truly contributing.

The only thing is that 25 teams worked him out, so he's not an unknown.
