Williams and/or Butler both retained IMO.

I hope not, jobberone. Neither Williams nor Butler is must-have but if it was up to me, I'd take Williams. T-Will and McClain will most likely compete for the same money; one of them will get signed.

I'd offer Butler 1-mil.

He's not a must re-sign but TWill is a solid No. 2 in this league. He runs good routes, makes plays occasionally. What's really underrated is his run blocking. Might be the best WR since Hines Ward in that regard. Zeke had 14 20+yard runs and that led the league. Only three others has as many as 10. You don't get that many big plays in the run game if the receivers aren't blocking.

I'd take him over Garcon right now. If we upgraded we would need someone with dynamic speed who can take the top off the defense. That's not Garcon.

I think they will make offers to both. Don't think Williams will be back
I would love to upgrade the position but don't see spending FA dollars on a receiver and don't see a later rnd pick coming in a being the #2 in season one
So the question becomes how high do you take a receiver, what type of receiver do you take

Dallas needs a WR who is able to get separation consistently and catch the ball reliably once he does. If he has great quickness and speed, so much the better. The scouting staff will be the ones to decide who and how high to take that receiver, however. They would know best, imho.

I could see Dallas resigning either Williams or Butler but only at the price they want to pay. We do have Andy North who was coming on in training camp and has worked with Dak after practice all during the season. To me North takes Butler's spot easily. I do believe we draft a WR if one is there when we draft but we won't overdraft one (i.e. move up for one). Frankly Cooper Kupp probably goes 2nd round and if he is at 60, then I take him. He fits the work ethic like Dak, strong hands, more quick than fast but fast enough, good routes, good blocker, fights for the ball, rarely lets ball into chest and has a knack for the red zone. He could easily be the #2 guy with North as the #4.

Will be interested to see if Dallas approaches Josh Gordon who has been working with Calvin Hill to cure (wrong word) his addictions. Supposedly he has been clean now for over a year. Cleveland could tender him as a RFA but reports out of Cleveland is they will not and are moving on. Gordon is a former 1st rounder with loads of talent and if Hill says go for it then I would be willing to take him on a prove contract.

I honestly would not be opposed to either spending a little bit of money on someone like Kenny Still to provide a deep threat or bring in a veteran like Boldin and see if I can find a speed guy in the middle parts of the draft.

I think TWill stays but it's going to be a lot more expensive than many fans expect.

It is unfortunate that they were not able to develop a young guy behind him. When everything is considered including a young QB, the surrounding players and this specific offensive scheme, the #2 WR needs to be a veteran.

Here are the other options:
Player 2016 Team
Alshon Jeffery … Bears
Vincent Jackson … Buccaneers
Pierre Garcon … Commanders
Kenny Britt … Rams
Steve Smith … Ravens
Michael Floyd … Patriots
Anquan Boldin … Lions
Kamar Aiken … Ravens
Brandon LaFell … Bengals
Ted Ginn … Panthers
Kendall Wright … Titans
Andre Holmes … Raiders
Cordarrelle Patterson … Vikings
Brian Quick … Rams
Percy Harvin … Bills
Terrelle Pryor … Browns
Russell Shepard … Buccaneers
Robert Woods … Bills
Eric Weems … Falcons
Cecil Shorts … Buccaneers
Devin Hester … Seahawks
Jordan Norwood … Broncos
Jeremy Kerley … 49ers
Deonte Thompson … Bears
Rod Streater … 49ers
Andre Roberts … Lions
Marc Mariani … Titans
Josh Bellamy … Bears
Bryan Walters … Jaguars
Jeremy Ross … Cardinals
Brandon Tate … Bills
Justin Hunter … Bills
Terrance Williams … Cowboys
Marquise Goodwin … Bills
Markus Wheaton … Steelers
Aldrick Robinson … Falcons
Arrelious Benn … Jaguars
Quinton Patton … 49ers

The Cowboys can win a Super Bowl with TWill and Butler. And they shouldn't cost a lot.

The Cowboys can not win a Super Bowl with their defense. Upgrade at all costs there.

I see a need to get at least one more productive WR in order to go from 26-28 PPG to over 30. It's just what is needed IMO.
That can be achieved by upgrading the defense. Forcing more turnovers. Creating shorter fields.

Another big thing, cut down on those stupid offensive penalities. Killed several drives this year.

Andy North is a golf analyst.

Andy Jones was the star of training camp for a few days at one point.

I think the Randy Gregory ordeal will make the Cowboys reluctant to deal with any players with drug related issues much like they didn't draft Randy Moss because of Michael Irvin's issues. I think Gordon's rights still belong to the Browns because he didn't accrue a season towards free agency in 2016 and probably not in some other seasons.

Mohamed Sanu signed a five year, $32.5 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons on March 10, 2016. Sanue received $14 million fully guaranteed including a $7 million signing bonus. Another $1.25 million in escalators is available.

Williams has more yards and more TDs in 4 years than Sanu has in 5. Williams also has a higher average per catch.

With Dez and Beaz there no reason we can't bring in six young guns and find a gem.

I think some people here will be shocked at the deal TWill gets.

Yep. I think people assuming Williams will be a fairly cheap re-sign might be disappointed.

Then I certainly hope it doesn't come from the Cowboys. I'm sure not interested in paying $6 million a year for the production the team gets from him. You can get that cheaper and more efficiently through the draft.

Williams is decent but not as productive as I had hoped after he showed more upside early in his career. We definitely need in upgrade over Butler though, either in FA or in the draft (3rd-4th round).

Also Witten isn't going to be around much longer and as deep as the TE position is in the draft this is the year we should look for his eventual replacement. Should be plenty of quality on day 2.

I didn't see Ted Ginn's name mentioned anywhere, and he's a guy I would definitely have on my radar. I think his skill set would benefit the Cowboys in a number of ways, and he's made only $2.1 million a year over the last two seasons in Carolina.

I like what Kenny Stills brings too, but I think his market will be much higher than a guy like Ginn.

Fine with re-signing T-Will to a sensible contract and drafting a burner later in the draft if one is worthy of being drafted.
Let the rookie develop behind the 3(Dez, Bease, Williams).

Both are really easily replaceable in the draft, not a big worry at all. There are several choices even in the 3rd or 4th Rd who can replace their production and more.

I was thinking about Ginn as well. Fills 3 spots with KR PR and WR. His hands sometimes scare me as he drops some very catchable balls more often than not.

I think this all depends on their contract demands. Cowboy fans can say we need to bring the gang back but Terrance and his agent might be thinking he can go out and earn a large contract. We should not be the team that overpays him. Butler could very well be affordable.

I think it's a huge mistake to "retain the secondary"...it rewards mediocrity and will ultimately be our undoing in the playoffs. Get better. Don't be cheap, don't be lazy.
