That can be achieved by upgrading the defense. Forcing more turnovers. Creating shorter fields.

Another big thing, cut down on those stupid offensive penalities. Killed several drives this year.

That'd work but I'd rather have a player.

I think TWill stays but it's going to be a lot more expensive than many fans expect.

It is unfortunate that they were not able to develop a young guy behind him. When everything is considered including a young QB, the surrounding players and this specific offensive scheme, the #2 WR needs to be a veteran.

Agreed

I was thinking about Ginn as well. Fills 3 spots with KR PR and WR. His hands sometimes scare me as he drops some very catchable balls more often than not.

They scare me a bit too, but I can live with him being this team's #3, jack of all trades receiver. Speed threat, punt returner, kick returner, jet sweep guy.

Not a guy who jumps off the board at you but he's productive. He could be a number two.

I'd rather have someone like Darboh although you're talking a high pick for him. My guess is someone of note will fall into the 3rd or 4th round and perhaps we'll take a chance then. But they are just as likely to just follow their board. In fact more likely. There's going to be some angst around here if they aren't heavy on defense.

I believe the receiving core needs two things, one a vet that still has some game to teach Dez how to actually play the WR position and to focus, and a burner. They definitely need a receiver that can stretch the field, the vet would be a serviceable 2 interchangeable with a burner when required.

Having nothing behind Dez, who has his share of injury history, and Beasley who's limited to strictly a slot receiver has put them in a bit of a pickle. I don't think there's any way they go into the draft without addressing it with someone who is at least a capable starter. That's probably going to look something similar to what Williams will be looking at with the risk of being an unknown. The real question is, is someone like Garcon or Stills worth the upgrade from Williams with the additional 3 million AAV and 10-15 million guaranteed? I think so, but it doesn't matter what we think.

I think they at least bring back Butler on a 1 year deal and try to keep Williams at that 5.5-6.5 per year range. If they can keep the guarantees low, they could move on from him in 2 years with minimal implications. This would hopefully allow them to address the defense through the draft and buy them a couple of seasons before they are needing a complete revamp of the position. Anything more than that though and we probably see a lower tier FA(along with Butler) and a 2nd-3rd Rd pick spent on a WR. Even then, I'm not sure that the offense doesn't take a step back with the looming risk of a significant step back if Dez or Beasley gets hurt.

Everyone is so focused on defense, but WR needs to be addressed in some form as bad as anything on the team.

You're right about Dez, we don't need a number 2, we need a 1A. Alshon Jeffries is probably to much to ask for.

I would prefer we bring in a cheaper veteran as a short term solution. Boldin would be good. Too many holes to fill this year. One less would be good and a veteran receiver is likely to be better than a rookie anyway. Andre Johnson might be another option.

If we resigned Terrence Williams I wouldn't be mad. I'd be a lot happier with him taking Butler's role and us getting a legitimate #2 but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen. Idk what we see in Brice Butler, he shouldn't be on the team. I feel the same way about Lucky Whitehead, he needs to be replaced. It's easy to say WR is a strong position bc Dez and Beasley, but outside of that I don't feel like we have a real #2. Do we have other weapons? Sure, but we need a #2 and a kick return (albeit he doesn't have to be a wide receiver.)

i think we ll let the draft or FA decide T will and Butler, but better money is Butler goes, and just let a young guy compete. Cant do worse.

Offensively the Cowboys are in good shape. Add a WR..Jeffries would be great...a speed guy somewhere in the draft. WR's are secondary to the clubs greatest weakness...Defense. The present Offense would have taken the Club to the Conference Championship game. It was the Defense that killed the Cowboys.

Yes, but failing to improve the offense will eventually lead to its fall.

other than beefing up our WR's, not sure what else we can do. better TE's? address backup RB and WR #2 and likely a backup qb, what are you seeing?

I realize Ginn brings a speed dimension the Cowboys don't currently have (and he's a returner upgrade over Lucky). If the dropped passes you got from Butler and Williams were frustrating, Ginn will make you pull your hair out.

He's certainly a more realistic option than Jeffrey - who will get a big contract somewhere.
