Johnson will eat himself out of the league and become injury prone because of his weight. ALA Montrae Holland. They gave up a 5th for Montrae, I dont think they are quite willing to give up on the guy just yet. Duke Robinson is a far better athlete and much more potential. I would be shocked if they grabbed an OG with the first pick. With Kosier,BIGG, and Holland I'm not sure where one fits in with the many other postions needed to be filled.

I respect the fact that you don't like "The House" and would prefer to take another position at # 51. He's from Texas by the way.

However, Johnson carries his weight well. He's in great shape. Anthony Parker was the guy that looked out of shape, not Herman Johsnon. He just needs to lose some bulk or lose about 20 pounds. That will help his mobility. I think it's unfair to look at him and say he is lazy. He "lazed" his way to a national title.

He will flat out dominate in the running game. He plows people. Go back and watch some of the 4th down runs LSU ran on Florida in 2007. Look at the direction the ball is going. He can trap and pull. This guy can move, especially when you consider how huge he is. His play didn't suffer at LSU this year. He was one of the most talked about guys until they played him at RT at the Senior Bowl. The extra weight on the edge hurt him. He does have RT potential and could move there when Colombo walks after his contract.

NFLDraftScout rates him at number 50, a solid second rounder.

We just disagree on the guard thing. LG almost got Romo killed. Kosier is going to be gone in 2010. Why would you pay big money to a sollid player when you can draft a blue-chip guy at a value pick? You have to get the offensive linemen in the pipleline and get them ready to play, or you have to shell out huge money in free agency. The Cowboys know this. It's why you take guys like Mike Jenkins and Anthony Spencer, so they will be there when you need them.

Holland is just a quality backup in my opinion. What did he last, one game? He has the history of being over weight, and he's 6-2. Kosier got hurt and missed most of the year.

I realize the Cowboys have other needs, but if your board says the best player is a guard or offensive linemen, you have to take him, especially when you look at the offensive line. If you don't, you get stuck with guys like Dixon Edwards or Dwayne Goodrich.

not disagreeing with you but it would be odd if broadus bashed the 04 draft he was a part of and loved the 08 draft where he wasn't.

btw i have always suspected one of the reason brian was axed was he was too chummy with radio row.

well, its not odd at all, its actually a fact. Broaddus broke down what happened exactly in the war room that day.

Mo carthon was insistent julius was as good as the other guys and they all took his advice and took the extra 1 and drafted julius.

Parcells insisted on rogers and parcells and the scouts thought peterman would be a hard nosed tough street brawling guard. They were looking for a player like that and they thought they found it.

Broaddus never did radio work when he was employed and he detailed his falling out with parcells on the radio a couple of times. Apparently broaddus was very vocal in not wanting rivera and wanting the team to bring in wahle and that led to him being released.

There's nothing wrong with spending on PROVEN commodities. Kosier was a relative bargain and has been a dependable, quality starter. Davis was signed to a huge deal, but he's been pretty dominant and been voted to two probowls. Colombo we got for nothing. Glenn we got for peanuts (trade). Owens got a good deal, but his original deal was extremely safe and he has been ultra productive. The jury is out on RW.

We have not missed on many free agents at all...and Jones has not went out and thrown money everywhere, most of the players (especially our best one's) were drafted or signed as rookie free agents by us.

Kosier was a proven commodity? Funny everyone flipped their lid when we signed him, especially when we gave him 5 mil a year and everyone thought that was alot.

but one thing is certain. Teams that use free agency alot, especially for key positions usually struggle. We fit the bill.

Kosier was a guy who could play 4 positions and that was why he was brought in. I fail to see why he would be gone in 2010? We might very well bring him back. As reliable as he has been and we all saw the difference when he was not in there I think its very possible we extend him.

Peterman really was slow to develope even before the Knee and BP just got tired of him. So he starts for Detroit- what a ringing endorsement.
He was highly rated by all the scouting services.

Cannot believe the idiots that say that Wahle was ever a possibility here. He was determined to go to the Panthers and that was that. Rivera WOULD have been a good pick if not for that back injury.

Ciskoswki was here for all those years we were drafting guys like Solomon Page so frankly I am not all that sure about him.

Romo, Witten, all 3 RB's, Gurode, Adams, Crayton, Bennett, Austin, Anderson

Folk, McBriar

Spears, Ratliff, Canty, Hatcher, Bowen, Burnett, Ware, James, Ellis, Spencer, Newman, Jenkins, Scandrick, RW 38

none of these guys was a signed as a free agent from another team, and alot of them are "key players"

Most scouting services had Page rated as a 1st rd pick, and we got him near the end of the 2nd rd.

He could have been pretty good if he had worked hard, but he was too lazy.

Yes thank you for making my point.

Jerry has been like a kid in the candy store with free agency because he cant properly run a front office and a war room.

When parcells got here he kicked out jerry's cronies, kicked out jerrys ways and installed a model of player and person type the team needs to concentrate on. He promoted people and kicked others out.

The results were, that witten, ware, newman, james, romo, ratliff, crayton, hatcher, barber etc were drafted.

THe more you stay out of free agency the better your organization will be.

Unfortunately Offensive lineman and wide receiver is a position this team has still not learned how to draft. Hopefully this will change and we will get a young lineman and a young wr this year. Nothing would be better.
