Yes it does. It would mean we clearly aren't as good as believed. If we are going to be a playoff contender, we should win the game. Handily.
In 1995 we lost both our games to the 6-10 Commanders. We weren't as good as believed?

Well, it's a good thing we went on to win the whole enchilada.

I get what you are saying but you know what he is saying has some validity. Even great teams lose a game now and then or play a lesser team way too close. The NFL is never a game of guaranteed big margins.

The game isn't played on paper.

Last year in week 2 Pittsburgh went to Cleveland and was lucky to escape with a 10-6 win. This type of thing happens all the time.

Setting up some sort of arbitrary criteria other than "a win" beforehand is just a setup for postgame curmudgeon-ry.

Quoted for truth.

Honestly, that is how it is in the NFL. No games are guaranteed easy victories. They do happen... but not very often.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Jagodzinski opted not to accept demotion
Posted by Mike Florio on September 3, 2009 11:25 AM ET
The Buccaneers have released a statement from former offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski.

The freshly-fired assistant coach says that he had a chance to stay with the team, but has opted to leave. And this likely means that the Buccaneers will owe him nothing moving forward.

"I am certainly disappointed but I wish nothing but the best for Raheem Morris and the entire Buccaneer organization," Jagodzinski said. "I was given the chance to remain on staff as the quarterbacks coach, but felt that the timing for such a move was not in the best interest for either side. I appreciate the opportunity that was given to me. Again, I wish nothing but the best for this organization."

In other words, Jagodzinski is smart enough to know that the notion of putting a cohesive team and coaching staff on the field would have been seriously undermined by flip-flopping the offensive coordinator and the quarterbacks coach.

The Bucs likelt realize that it wouldn't have worked, too. But they probably also knew Jagodzinski wouldn't take the reduced role.

Besides, Jagodzinski presumably has a buyout from the other organization that fired him this year, Boston College. The Eagles cut him loose after he interviewed for the head-coaching vacancy with the Jets.

That said, we hope Jagodzinski or his lawyer read carefully the terms of his B.C. contract before Jagodzinski made his decision to walk. By passing on the chance to earn some money that would have partially offset his buyout from Boston College, Jagodzinski could be giving the Eagles a plausible basis for withholding the money that he would have received from Tampa this year, and beyond.

I really raise my eyebrows about some of the decisions by the new coaches in the NFL. Morris, McDaniel, Spagnuola, and Haley all have made some very questionable decisions. Two of them axing OCs this close to season kickoff is really odd.

Three of them have been well chronicled, IMO, but what has Spagnuolo done that's been questionable? I'm not asking to be a ********, I just haven't been able to follow the NFL as closely this off-season.

Has Raheem Morris even hit puberty yet?

And Josh McDaniels looks like the kid taking tickets at the movie theater.

Haley is a little older, but he acts like an irate teen-ager whose dad took away his car keys.

Or maybe I'm just getting old.

I was about to ask the same question.

Yet some guys do it flawlessly. Look at Tomlin in Pitt, or Schwantz in D-town, or even Sparano in Miami.

We both know coaches have huge egos, but these guys seem to be going overboard with it.

Tomlin got there with Dick Lebeau and the O coordinator already in place. Lebeau is the main cog behind the Steeler's last 2 championships.

I won't exactly call Schwart's transition seamless or flawless yet.

And we all know Parcell's put together whatever goes on in Miami. He put the GM there for crying out loud.

Like i said, if they score more than 10 points against Dallas week 1 I will know exactly how the season will play out.

All things considered, we should trounce them. An inexperienced head coach in his first game with a shaken up staff and a team with significantly less talent, give me a break.

:hammer:

If we lose to these guys to open the season...then all of us are idiots for believing in this New Dallas Cowboys Team. The Bucs have looked horrible this preseason.

Tampa has been struggling with injuries and other issues this summer. Morris has taken some heat from one of the more caustic writers in town for his delayed decision to name Leftwich as quarterback. While the running back situation has looked good, the WR group is still hurting, and even though Bryant should be back, he isn't going to have much practice time with Leftwich, who really hasn't looked that good.

I think the Dallas D will control Tampa significantly.

If they score more than 10 points, by your own admission, there will be no need for you to continue watching the remainder of the season. Similarly, there will be no need for your presence here. Correct?

Please, oh please don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Several posters are going to be exceedingly disappointed after week 1 when the game is much closer than they expect.

Ultimately, the players, not the coaches, play the games. And I sense the Buc players will be very motivated. This contest smacks of a 17-13 or a 24-19 type affair.

I’m taking your advice and lowering my expectations. So now I’m thinking Cowboys 24-31 points, Bucs 3-6 points.

That said, if we don't win that game by a sizeable margin, something is wrong with the Cowboys.

This is the National Football League and I would be just as happy with a 1 point win against them as I would be a 25 point win.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have fired offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski.

The move was announced moments ago, and only minutes after we called the team's P.R. office to explore rumors that Jagodzinski would be dismissed.

More to come.

Incredible. It sounds like nobody knows what they are doing in Tampa Bay.

That said, if we don't win that game by a sizeable margin, something is wrong with the Cowboys.
