Jagodzinski opted not to accept demotion

The Buccaneers have released a statement from former offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski.
The freshly-fired assistant coach says that he had a chance to stay with the team, but has opted to leave. And this likely means that the Buccaneers will owe him nothing moving forward.
"I am certainly disappointed but I wish nothing but the best for Raheem Morris and the entire Buccaneer organization," Jagodzinski said. "I was given the chance to remain on staff as the quarterbacks coach, but felt that the timing for such a move was not in the best interest for either side. I appreciate the opportunity that was given to me. Again, I wish nothing but the best for this organization."
In other words, Jagodzinski is smart enough to know that the notion of putting a cohesive team and coaching staff on the field would have been seriously undermined by flip-flopping the offensive coordinator and the quarterbacks coach.
The Bucs likelt realize that it wouldn't have worked, too. But they probably also knew Jagodzinski wouldn't take the reduced role.
Besides, Jagodzinski presumably has a buyout from the other organization that fired him this year, Boston College. The Eagles cut him loose after he interviewed for the head-coaching vacancy with the Jets.
That said, we hope Jagodzinski or his lawyer read carefully the terms of his B.C. contract before Jagodzinski made his decision to walk. By passing on the chance to earn some money that would have partially offset his buyout from Boston College, Jagodzinski could be giving the Eagles a plausible basis for withholding the money that he would have received from Tampa this year, and beyond.
