Aren't the Chargers coming to Dallas this year?

I can't wait see him trying to tackle Barber or trying to cover Witten, Bennett, or Felix. No one will be missing him then.

i think Burnett was a steal for them and out of all they players lost this off season the Cowboys will miss him the most.
I also see Burnett as a future pro bowler.

Good special teams player, decent contributor, but the biggest reason he didn't really get to showcase anything is cause he was always fricken hurt.

I thought Burnett played at around 230, and if he is 242 he's a small 242.

For my part, that's what I meant when I mention the best players getting on the field. Sometimes it's a case of better guys ahead of them...they don't do much to help their situation w/ poor play. In the cases of Fasano and Choice... let's face it, they had almost *ZERO* chance of cracking the starting spot unless there was an injury.

But for Burnett, there's enough opportunities because defense tends to change out personel a lot more often than offense. His injuries were a big part of what kept him off the field. He should just accept that. I do have to chuckle and mention that that's not an excuse a guy like Barbie Carpenter can use, he just sucks haha jk

Parcells said he had problems staying at 227, so if he's at 242, it won't be for long

As a Cowboy, he didn't show everything he can be.

Maybe he will with the Chargers.

Best of luck to him.

Remember that time when Burnett made that awesome play, when he.. ... um

..err.. ..when he... um.. kinda covered that guy and they didn't really throw to him..

umm... yeah.. that was awesome... give me a break... the guy is an oversized safety and a me first player that has never shown to be anything but middle of the road.

“I didn't get a chance to showcase my skills,” Burnett said yesterday. “ I can't really describe my strengths and weaknesses. I haven't had a whole lot of opportunities to go out and play. I know when you get out there, you make them call your name.”

Sounds like we lost another player who can't hold himself accountable for not earning the chance to showcase his skills. Good riddance Kevin!

Man, poor Justin Rogers hasn't had a chance to show what he can do, either.

I wonder why?

I haven't had a chance to prove myself.

I am pretty sure I would be better than Deion Sanders at Cb.....

Burnett had playing time and he actually looked pretty good in it, he didn't have much continued success because he was always limited with injuries.

He is correct that hes does have talent...however talent don't do anyone any good when it's in the Training Room with Injuries.

Actually, while he was good in coverage, he was suspect at tackling/defending hte run. Given that he's built to play ILB, where run-support is primarily needed, secondarily to covering receivers, it's pretty obvious why he's no longer here.

I mean, it's a preety telling indictment of your skills when one year you're replaced by an againd Zack Thomas, and the next year, when he leaves, your position is bolstered by Brooking, another older LB. But what htese veterans can still do, even with their diminishing skills, is still cover the running game better than Burnett.

So Burnett is wrong to say he had no chance to showcase his skills; in fact, he had a chance, but only he didn't showcase the ones he needed to when callrd upon. And instead of spending the little free time he had to improve them, he instead spent that time contributiong to the DMN blog. That tells you where his "I'm not accountable" attitude comes from.

Our pass coverage from the LB perspective just got pretty bad, with the loss of Zach Thomas and Burnett...

All of that seems reasonable, but the fact is, the Cowboys actually matched the offer given to Burnett...

Yes, Dallas matched his offer, but to play him in a limited role on sure-passing downs where his skills in coverage can be leveraged. But there was no plan to make him a full time starter because he can't play the run. SD just wants to take a look-see at him; even they aren't paying him starters' money.

I'm actually glad we lost him because we can now draft that position to look for an evwentual starter to Brooking; something Burnett was never going to be.

Serious question and hearing Burnette: Who was the last person we let go that flourished someplace else (and who had the I wasn't given a chance attitude)?

And I don't mean someone we tried to stash on the practice squad.

What ever helps you sleep better at night Burnett. You had more then a few opportunities with injuries etc. to prove you were capable of being a starter. I always thought tackling was a prerequisite for being a starting LB in the NFL. Some guys just need to except the fact that they are best off being role players, this guy is one of them.
