Burnett - torn ACL on IR.

holy crap. I am really starting to get annoyed with this Burnett kid. first hes a 49ers fan and now all these injuries. he better be back at full strength come TC.

is it just me or are our 2nd rd picks cursed? al J, burnett, Rogers.

Isn't this 3 surgeries? There was something right before minicamp, something else at the start of the season, and now the ACL.

I think the difference here is that Rogers wasn't willing to play in pain and had an optional surgery on his knee -- something the team thought he could play with. A torn ACL isn't something you play with. The minicamp injury was something that annoyed the team since he and his agent failed to inform the team of the procedure -- that's more on his agent though. The start of the season surgery was one that he came back from very quickly.

I don't think Burnett is going to be in the same boat as Rogers - Rogers would have milked that surgery at the start of the season for 6-8 weeks. Burnett got a lot of credit from BP for getting back so quickly.
I dunno either way the injuries are really starting to pile up. Not good for a first year guy, he may be another injury prone guy we have to cut. I really hope he can start for us next year .

Abersonc- That is three knees surgeries for Burnett. He tore an ACL when he was here at UT, don't remeber whcih knee, tho. The one he had early in the season was just a cartilage clean-up. Hope he didn't cream the same knee (ACL) as before. Hard to keep repairing those type of injuries over and over again. Good player while here in Knoxville, but I'm beginning to wonder about durability. Guess we'll see.

it was the other knee this time.

Stop the 4-3 madness. Kid was a backup in our base 3-4. That would be stupid to change now. Thank god Parcells is running this team.....

actually, I'd love to see some folks on the board run the team for a game -- maybe pre-season or something.

that'd shut folks up real quick

If we do not have enough LB's, then we have to play the 4-3. ITs really simple- even for you,Nors.

Yep, we're going to completely change our entire defensive system that we've been playing all year for the very last game because a guy who was seeing 5-8 snaps a game on defense got hurt.

It really is that simple.

This guy is rapidly approaching turd status. He didn't even get hurt in a real game.

So every one of our LB's is going to play every single Defensive down that we are not in the nickel? We only really have 4 - And what happens if ANY of them go down?
Frankly, we have played a fair amount of 4-3 this year anyway, so its not like they would be doing anything unfamiliar. right now we have more talent on the line then at LB; so it would seem to make sense that you want that talent ON THE FIELD.

Well, that stinks. I don't how he can be expected to be back by mini camps if its a torn ACL.

But it definitely bumps up the need for more linebackers if the team wants to stick with the 3-4. One ILB and one OLB are definitely a priority this offseason.

Too bad Jay Foreman signed with the Gints.

We won't see a complete overhaul of the defense, but I wouldn't be surprised to see more fronts with 4 lineman. 4-3 over/under. Lots of nickel.
