Burnett - torn ACL on IR.

Well I sure hope this is the last of these little black clouds over the guy

What is your source for this story? Doesn't sound legit to me. This is not posted anywhere that I can find.
Um... is Bill Parcells a legitimate source?

KB has been a bust so far anyhow. He's not really going to be missed this season except for the depth issues.

So we only will have James, Ware, Fujita, Fowler and Shanle dressing at LB?
i'm sure obgobu will dress. 4-3 and lots of nickle for sunday i predict.

Jeez... Burnett is almost starting to smell like Jacob Rogers...

Isn't this 3 surgeries? There was something right before minicamp, something else at the start of the season, and now the ACL.

I think the difference here is that Rogers wasn't willing to play in pain and had an optional surgery on his knee -- something the team thought he could play with. A torn ACL isn't something you play with. The minicamp injury was something that annoyed the team since he and his agent failed to inform the team of the procedure -- that's more on his agent though. The start of the season surgery was one that he came back from very quickly.

I don't think Burnett is going to be in the same boat as Rogers - Rogers would have milked that surgery at the start of the season for 6-8 weeks. Burnett got a lot of credit from BP for getting back so quickly.

well i think we should trade this years 2nd, and the next couple of 2nds for a 1st. we not to lucky in 2nd round. just trade them all for future fisrt's.lol

No doubt,,, the only place KB was starting to show up on was ST's.
He ws starting to make some nice plays,, but we have more depth at LBr than most give credit for.
Go take a look at the roster real quick just for a memory jolt... we have a few more positions that will garnish more attention than our depletion at LB pos.

gotta agree there. no comparison. rogers never got on the field. burnett did play a lot this year and was effective. rogers on the other hand...is not a football player.

When did it happen, in practice?

It's obviously bad anytime something like this happens but I really hate when ACL's happen this late in the season...If it takes 9 months to a year he may not even be ready till very late next season.

I tore my ACL a month ago durring the last week of practice in my season, its been a week since my surgery and im already able to semi jog. Burnett will get surgery in a week or so and he will be ready for mini camps/training camps. I feel bad for him though, hurts like a *****

I think it's just an omen that we never should've switched to the 3-4.

The Doomsday Defense was always meant to have four down linemen ;)

I think we are working the phones today to bring in a guy from a practice squad. An LB from another 3-4 team's PS seems most likely - tought to get those guys to sign for a single week though.

Yep Cowboys just don't look right without the 4-3.

Never have liked the 3-4.

I just hope it wasn't to the knee that he injured in college. ACL is not a career ending injury by any means, but it would be foolish to not bump up the LB position a little more in the "need" category for the offseason after this.

Burnett done for season

IRVING -- Cowboys rookie linebacker Kevin Burnett suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Thursday's practice and will be placed on injured reserve.

Coach Bill Parcells said Friday that Burnett suffered the injury during a punt return drill.

"He was starting to come on a little bit," Parcells said of the second-round pick. "But I don't think it's anything he can't recover from."

Burnett got off to a slow start this season after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to clean out cartilage damage. He was inactive for the first two games, but hasn't missed a game since.

He is fifth on the team with 11 special teams tackles, and his role on defense had increased recently. He had his first career sack against the Chiefs on Dec. 11.

Burnett tore the ACL in his left knee during his 2002 season at Tennessee. He returned to start the next two seasons. He also underwent surgery on his right hip after the draft.

Parcells indicated that Eric Ogbogu could take Burnett's place on the active roster.

I realize injuries are a part of the game, however, I always hate it just the same!

Glad to see the injury is on a different knee.

4-3 is our only option realistically right now- we just do not have enough players to go the 3-4. Still- Having Canty, Glover and Ferguson in the middle with Spears, Ellis and Coleman, and maybe Ogo at the ends we should be pretty strong; maybe Johnson as well. That is where our talent is anyway.
