4th season in league, with 2 different teams, and Butler has has averaged all of 213 yards per season.

Will be 27 years old by the end of the season. Eventually having 'potential' on-the-field production matters -- he can't just be a guy that flashes one in a while.

I hope he finally realizes all that potential, however, I'm guessing he'll never even come close to challenging Williams.
Thanks for the 'info' on Butler, wasn't he like the 5th or 6th string receiver at Oakland? Personally I like the thought of him and dez both DOUBLE COVERED burning it down field at the same time therefore leaving lance Dunbar wide open/ unseen ,, like a sneaky touchdown scoring NINJA.

Has anybody asked Dak yet who wants as the no. 2?

So we have two number two's. Good problem to have.

Easily Williams. I'd revamp the position in the offseason though.

Williams is all about gaining enough separation to allow himself as a wide-open target - although he has made the occasional spectacular hands catch (ala the sideline catch against Seattle the season before last) it is definitely NOT the norm for him. Butler may lack the fluidity of T-Will but he appears to be more willing to fight for a ball-in-air. Butler is flat out the most physical of the two - but edge to Williams as a field stretcher and compliment to Dez.

I'd love to see a legit deep threat on this team. Perhaps even two of them. The offense would be an easy threat to score 600 points. Oh well, this is not Madden football.

Lucky Whitehead is a real burner, but is probably held back by his lack of size. Dez and Butler have the best mix of size and speed, but I agree- this team could use an infusion of speed at receiver.

Butler is likely gone after the season regardless of what happens this season. If he is good, then he'll be too expensive to re-sign and if he's bad then no need to keep him.

Give me Butler. Better route runner and better hand catcher. T-Will has advantage of experience in the offense, but I expect Butler to more than challenge him as the year wears on. Besides salary demands, Butler may very well be the reason this will be T-Will's last year in Dallas.

#2 is TWILL until Butler or someone else proves they are better run blocker. Cowboys are going to running ball a ton with EZ, Morris and Dak so everyone needs to run block like maniacs.

Williams has been a solid number 2 ---- i really believe to many people expected him to step into the 1 last year and he is not made for that and it is a little unfair. As a compliment to dez he is very good IMO

With Dak in the lineup, it wouldn't surprise me to see Butler end up being the more productive player. Those two seem to have a connection and a comfort level built up.

Williams is the better player, though. And he's the one Romo is probably going to trust more whenever he gets back.

T-Will reminds me of Alvin Harper back in the day. Harper was a nice compliment to the Playmaker, put up some nice stats, got him a nice deal, then stunk when he became the man on his own team.

Last year when Dez went down and T-Will became the defacto #1 he underwhelmed. This year he dropped a few TDs from Dak in the preseason, meanwhile Butler showed better hands (and chemistry) with Dak.

Butler fights for the ball? Except the time Dak threw him the ball and would have been an interception if not for late hit.

We will see how they do in a game against starters. Williams gets way too much hate, like most players that fans don't like

Terrance Williams has always struck me as a solid receiver that is a good compliment to Dez, though he doesn't seem to have that extra gear to push himself into the next category of WRs. He's not always been the most consistent player, but he has done a fair job for us these past three years. The big question will be whether or not we decide to extend him, and if we do, what we will pay him. For me, unless it's a team friendly deal, I think I would be tempted to consider other options in next year's draft to see if we could upgrade our #2 receiver position to take some of the burden off Dez.

As for Williams or Butler, the latter has more speed and can help stretch the field. He has been tipped to be a guy to breakout for a while now, or at least that's the impression I got of him off some Raiders fans. Maybe him and Dak are productive together, though as others have said, it is likely that Romo turns to Williams over Butler. But either way, if they can both make plays we are good to go. But perhaps next season Butler is retained while Williams walks if his demands are too much for a steady number #2 receiver.

There's no reason why lucky can operate deep in the slot. Desean Jackson tied the first game of last year from the slot when he burned mo. Put him in motion so the CB can't get a jam on him. Too complicated for our staff?

Terrance is a good #2 WR; that's his ceiling though.

As far as his criticism for not "stepping up" last season, again, folks are acting as if he was playing with a competent QB last year to judge by. Williams can't throw the ball to himself.
