Bennett has had plenty of opportunities but what have we gotten outta him?

30 games played, 13 games started.
35 receptions for 442 yards, 12.6 yd/catch, long of 37 yds, 4 tds (all in his rookie year), 20 catches for 1st downs (not bad)

35 receptions in 30 games played...... barely over 1 rec/game. Not much of an impact. I really hope that he does reapply himself over the offseason and become a beast, but the likelihood of that happening is not looking all that positive. I would love for MartyB to become an big impact on the offense and become one hell of a weapon, but I'm not holding my breath.

I wouldn't trade him, I think he will develop into a star! He is just another victim of Garrett's inability to handle a "lot of stars on one team" offense...

We should trade Romo. He isn't Joe Montana.

There should be an auto filter that filters these types of dumb threads out so sane people don't have to read them.

Remove Witten and I bet he gets a lot more balls thrown his way.

Give the guy some time. Not everyone comes out and Pro Bowls in their first two years. Especially when you're the second option at a given position.

We have Jason Witten and now John Phillips, between Bennett and Phillips we have the best chance to get a good pick by trading Bennett. The guy was a huge disappointment this past season and Phillips outplayed him. My current TE depth chart:
1) Jason Witten
2) John Phillips
3) Martellus Bennett

Love MartyB cause he's hilarious but the guy isn't performing and apparently the work effort is there. Ownership has noticed it as has the coaching staff, the guy needs to concentrate on his game instead of his persona.
2 things. It was year 2 for him, no patience?

Secondly, you're wasting your breath, or your typing because we can want all we want, want all the draft picks and cut this guy and trade for this pick, but at the end of the day, Jerry will do what he wants and we will have no say in it.

I want the guy to show that he cares more about football as he does about the rest of the crap he does.

If I was looking to trade Bennett I wait until after next season. Right now he has little value but if he can put together a good season he would help to increase his value

ok, lets say we completed somewhere between 25-30 passes a game.

  • how many do you expect to go to your first option? that would be your #1 WR,
  • then #2 option and in this case its witten.
  • then your number 3 option probably your #2 WR,
  • #4 and 5 options maybe your RB and #3 WR.
  • now lets get to options number 6, 7 and 8. bennett falls somewhere in that group.
how many catches a game do you expect bennett to have averaged as the back up TE being the 6th or 7th option in the offense? how many catches do back up TEs average in the league? how about TEs?

top 20 TEs in the league averaged less than 4 catches a game. is it a surprise that the back up TE is averaging a little more than one catch a game?

catch the few that he dropped and I'll be happy. His size/speed causes match-up problems and opens up things for other players. Not to mention his blocking.

lol that we are now supposed to have two all pros at tight end and both of them should put up monster stats.

I was at triaining camp every day in S.A. watching this guy look like the MVP of the camp.

I say we had better give him one more chance or he might haunt us one day ......

I agree. I think fans tend to be more trigger happy about wanting players cut than what most teams would do. I rather give Bennett another season to prove himself than to regret letting him go later.

Bennett is more concerned about his rapping career than his football career. I don't really care for the guy...

If he played on the twitter screen, he'd be an All Pro.

The guy has been here 2 years that does not make a career. Hell after last season people claimed Jenkins was not that good looks like they were dead wrong about him No doubt Bennett had a disappointing season however he does have the talent and Dallas should not be in a big rush to get rid of him.
