And this is why I refuse to criticize ANY NFL player who holds out for the best contract they can receive. We talk about quarterbacks and other positions are overpaid yada yada yada... but that's BS.

They put their lives and health on the line for our entertainment and enjoyment. So what if a quarterback doesn't go deep in the playoffs or win Superbowls every year.... so what if a defensive player with the biggest contract doesn't lead the league in sacks or interceptions. As long as they're laying their bodies on the line every week, they're earning every dollar they get paid.

It's bigger than the game.
Agreed. These guys give up a lot….all for our enjoyment.

So how much do you think would Dak Prescotts number be if he for example had to give up his ability to run ?
I dunno, everyone has there own number.

If it was me, and I couldn't ever run again I'm probably at a billion at least.

I got bashed by every bum on this site. Saying he was so good blah blah i always stated he would be gone after 2 seasons. Hes an athlete not a football player there is a big difference
Yep it was clear to see. I told people that was crying that he’d be cut a year or two after so they can save their crying. He was a good player but I wondered what would happen once he lost his athleticism and hell it went quick.

- Achilles tendon ... So tough of a difficult injury to overcome.
That's why i don't think Anthony Brown will have a continuing career.

- Big thing is Cowboys not seeing Byron as a CB needing to be high paid. Fact is he has little to zero ability to INT the ball.
Cowboys desperately wanted turnover playmakers ..that's not Byron.

- Have no idea how Byron made All pro his best year with zero INTs.

- Very good man coverage guy who was lost in zones or cushion coverage.
Definitely not worth highest paid CB as Dolphins paid him as such.
Like Diggs, not much of a run support tackler.

I have a very good idea... If I recall correctly the passer rating of opposing QBs when targeting him was somewhere in the 30's and the completion percentages were not much higher. Interceptions for corners are a lot like sacks for DEs. It's ONE way to measure their effectiveness.. but far from the ONLY way. Thing is, because he seldom made them pay with INTs teams kept trying Byron.. and generally had little or no success. The fact that he dropped more interceptions than any Cowboy since Orlando Scandrick notwithstanding.. Byron was a very good corner his last two seasons in Dallas. No he did not deserve to be the highest paid yadda yadda yadda.. but that's not reason to diminish how good he was.

We kill this front office, but this was a good decision letting Bryon Jones walk. Before the injuries in Miami, he wasn't worth the contract.
When Cowboys get rid of guys to their credit we don’t hear from them again. Amari is probably the best player they’ve gotten rid of and actually played well elsewhere.

I agree, think finding Brown's replacement is a priority this offseason, probably a high draft pick.

After reading the article on Jones (1) He's not physically fit to play in the NFL with the leg issues he has (2) His statement about given pills and injections from team doctors may not sit well with team owners in the league if he's released by Miami. It also brings up questions about which team loaded him up with prescription pain meds and injections to keep him on the field when this type of medical treatment may have shortened his career. (3) The last question, was it one team or two teams that over medicated Jones that allowed him to play when in fact he should have taken more time to heal his injuries. (4) Both the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins team doctors have a few hard questions to answer, since these are the only teams he played for.

The way he says it, it’s as if it’s the NFLs fault, the part about not taking the medications….. sounds like he’s blaming it all on the league being nefarious with treatment and not the fact that it’s a physical sport in which he was paid millions and he won’t have to ever work again because of it. The NFL has been very good to and very important to a great many players. Byron sounds just like he wants someone to pile the blame on for the nagging injuries….I mean he didn’t have anything MAJOR that will leave him like poor Ronnie Coleman, sounds a little extra at this point, but I’m not his doctor….

Didn't Beasley sneak into a pro bowl as a fifteenth alternate or some such? And there were those two backers who shined for the Chiefs in their first Super Bowl run.. Hitchens and Wilson? And don't the Chiefs also have a starting corner or safety the Cowboys discarded? Of course D-Ware having that one monster post season on the way to helping the Broncos win a Super Bowl might be mentioned as well. Hell even Demarco Murray had a couple of thousand yard seasons splitting time with Henry after getting the hell out of that Chip Kelly mess in Philly. Point being.. most of the time we don't hear from the guys the Cowboys send packing again.. but not EVERY time.

The Kelvin Joseph and Nashon Wright picks are huge setbacks to have to go right back into pure NFL draft mode to have to get it right again.

In " hindsight" CB Asante Samuels as a 2nd round pick instead of KJ j and Wright would've been ideal and helpful but prototype fit was the call I'm hearing there.

I think the "No amount of chronic pain" for financial gain part rubs people the wrong way.

Everyone knows the risks of playing football. He made millions for his "sacrifice".

Average Joe gets same chronic injuries from working an assembly line or trade and doesn't have a fraction to show for it.

Anyone can be financially independent if you stay out of debt, live well below your means and save.

It may take time and discipline, but anyone can do it.
