Byron Jones next contract, how much?

If he continues playing at this level, he'll become the highest paid CB in NFL history.
overstatement period LOL in HISTORY.. no his contracts up he only has 16 games to use as leverage and not many INTs etc so he will get paid but highest in history..come on man!! :)

Unfortunately his agent wont follow that logic. In his defense our coaches should have identified him as a CB sooner. Thats said, I think he will likely get franchised and be forced to do it again.

Its a smart move, except in Dlaws case I think his price will ultimately prove more costly after this season.
once again who cares we arent spending our money nor making the decsions, I let him set the market by testing the waters, I dont go outbidding guy with one good season at CB and many very avg ones at S, let the offers come and then make your offer if its not ridiculous..he is not yet a Reaves or Peters right now those dudes put up INT numbers plus locked down guys for many years and earned their money..im not paying dude outrageous money for one season unless the market gets set first , only way that happens is you let him test FA waters..Im willing to let him go and use Lewis and Awuzie if we have to break the bank on one year wonder..sorry this is Fantasy Football or Madden real dollars and a Cap is at stake and I haven't seen enough to make him a TOP paid CB..let see whos right no need for ridiculous internet argument.. SJ thank the good lord is now making these decsions or wed be back in cap hell before we know it..

Well I care if thats ok? If hes ends up being a lock down corner Id prefer to keep him. Another year of top level play will only serve to prove what he is or isn't.

As far as cap hell goes, isnt this what we've been penny pinching for, to sign our own? After years of developing guys like Dlaw and Jones I dont see it as being the smartest move to simply let them walk.

I thought we changed it for Richard. Maybe a little of both.

We did change the scheme a little as we play lot less zone. But, IMO, switching Byron back to his natural position (the one he played in college) was. the biggest difference. We basically stuck him at safety b/c at the time we had Carr, MO, and Scandrick, not b/c anyone determined that was his best fit. They just wanted him on the field and the assumption was he would learn the position. Then, in typical Jason Garret era style, the decision was never questioned after it was made or corrected. It took a fresh pair of eyes to look at Byron to get anything done.

This will be tricky.......the rankings say he's the best but are we seeing a truly elite/shutdown impact.

2018 franchise tag for CB is $14.2M

I’d let Byron Jones walk. I’m not a fan of his play at all. He simply isn’t a ball hawk, and can’t even intercept a pass that hits him in the chest.

He will be with us next year. We picked up how 5th year option. He makes 6.2 million next year and UFA in 2020. We should extend him this year. Maybe 3 years after 2019 option. He will be a good corner for us. He just needs to learn how to catch. Heaths int last week bounced off Jones chest. Lol.

Byron also played safety in college.

Right after the draft, the talk was that they drafted him to play FS.
