If he is around at the 22nd spot do we take him?

6'8 DE U Miami

Right now he's projecting to be a 1st-2nd round pick, His stock feel from his average JR season. Wade Phillips isn't happy with our D-line doesn't think theres any one who he feels they have to be on the field at all times. Could this guy fall to us and if he did should we snag him?

He would be nice but i dont see us taking a DL in the first round this year. CB, RB, or WR.

tru but we could possible trade up in the 2nd round and still get CJ pick up a Corner with our 2nd pick and then get a WR with another pick. I think we need to trade Marcus Spears for a 2nd and Carp for a 3rd and we will be able to get a lot of better players.

I don't think he's that good, and I certainly don't want to spend a #1 on a 3-4 DE.

If Calais Campbell is there at 22, then Jerry needs to take him.

Campbell is a catalytic player. Although he had down year compared to last season (10 sacks), he still had 5 sacks.

He would automatically be the best pass rusher on the DL. He is so athletic and fluid that dropping into coverage looks natural_you can't say that about Ellis or Spencer. He has run between 4.75-4.85, and for a guy going a 6'8 280 he still looks lean enough to pack on 20 lbs w/o losing his quickness.

Take the best CB available with the 28th, hopefully Rodgers-Cromartie is still on the board.

We have enough D-linemen, Dallas will go for a CB and RB...

we tend to stay away from Miami players, and Calais is nothing special, so I don't see it happening

That's a good reason to avoid him. Player from Da U are generally nothing but trouble. Great talents but they "rack disaprine".

No thanks.

You guys realize that he's NOT going to get 10 sacks a year in our scheme, right? I mean you realize it's not the job of our DE's to pass rush? That's why they use the OLB's, and the occassional ILB blitz, to get the majority of their sacks.

This guy will come in, and cause of our scheme, maybe he'll get 3 sacks a year instead of 1 and half or 2 that Spears gets.

While thats an extra sack or two I don't think that is nearly worth it to give up a first on him, when we are in much greater need of a CB and a WR in the first round.

If he's there at #22, then you'd better wonder before you take him.

Outside of corners and franchise quarterbacks, pass rushers are a must, and no team that knows what it's doing is going to pass one up in this pass-happy league.

So if #22 teams pass on him, maybe he aint all that. And if that's the case, I certainly wouldn't want the Cowboys to take him in the first round, especially when we have major needs to address elsewhere.

but how strong is he . strength is key for 34 linemen even though we arent in parcells scheme anymore.

I think when all is said and done this guy is going to be a top 10 pick.

Hes a 4-3 guy all the way though.

He's no different from any other player. If he has a good combine, his stock will most likely rise and vice versa.

I personally would be intrigued if he was there for us at 22. The only reason why I probably wouldn't pull the trigger is that we have a similar player in Chris Canty.

True, there have been a lot of players from the U that have received a lot of negative headlines, but there are also a bunch that have managed to avoid it. Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, Jonathan Vilma, & Greg Olsen are some recent high draft choices that come to mind.

If Kenny Phillips is there at 22, I'd be really tempted to take him even if he is from the U.

lazy linemen with bad production are too easy to go bust, and this guy has boom or bust written all over him, and is tilted way toward the bust side. i'll take a chance on him with a 2nd rounder, but not a first. miami recruits are not what they used to be from pure talent standpoint.
