I have to respectfully disagree.
When Dez was chased out of town, I didn't hear many blaming Dak. The prevailing mentality, repeated ad nauseum on this forum (and in the media) was:
Dez "lost it". Dez couldn't get open. Dez was a shadow of his former self. Dak was saddled with this terrible receiver who didn't care and was a locker room cancer. etc.
There were a few blaming Dak (I'm in this group) who were saying that Dez didn't just all of a sudden forget how to play the game and that it was more likely a quarterback issue. But this represents a small minority of thinking on this topic. The prevailing wisdom was that Dez was a problem.
Management apparently agreed, basically running him out of town on a rail and doubling down on their confidence/commitment in Dak.
This New Orleans experiment should settle that argument. Either Dez produces well with Brees and it becomes evident that he could still play the game and that main issue with his drop in production wasn't him. Or he bombs and it makes it apparent that his critics were right and he is not very good. But it can't be both. It's extremely unlikely that he "lost it" and then "found it" again. Although, I'm sure many of Dak's defenders will claim this, if Dez does anywhere near as well working with Brees as he did with Romo.
