Uhhhh Jerry TRADED for Roy Williams, Pac-Man Jones and Joey Galloway. Tank and Pac-Man were bargains due to their history. TO and Deion come to mind. So I guess that's what? Two names out of 20 years? I guess Jerry does have a huge history of spending money.

Yeah, this is what i was thinking... He's made a lot of trades for "big name players" but where is the "consistent" big spending in free agency? Maybe someone else can chime in with something better?

I think the that someone is mistaking Jerry Jones with Deadskins owner Snyder?

That dude always overpays on retreads and if there is a capless year? Look out. That dude is gonna stock up. And I don't blame em.

Let's do some math here...

An Owner who loves his name and face on TV

PLUS

A capless year

PLUS

The Superbowl being played in Cowboys Stadium

EQUALS ???

I sucked at math in college but I think I can figure this one out. Unless the speculation about JerryWorld, I mean Cowboys Stadium, putting a serious hit on Jerry's wallet is true, I expect Jerry to be incredibly active in Free Agency.
Players who have made it known they want to be a Cowboy (calling Julius Peppers) are going to get a serious look. Despite my normal Jerry bashing, I don't necessarily think this is a bad thing.

It's not. The owners that really want to win are going to be the ones spending the money. And the owners like Tampa Bay's are going to spend even less than they are, since no floor will be in place.

You're right. Not all those BIG Names were free agent signings. Some where trades. I thought your point though was about where this perception about Jerry over spending is coming from.

My point is the BIG NAMES. It's irrelevant to nit pick on how these big names where acquired when you're talking about public perception. Cowboys fans make the distinction. The public won't. Outside of the moron in Washington and the Brain trust in New England, who has a bigger reputation for "acquiring" the big splashy name to go for all the marbles than Jerry?

Since when is Tank Johnson a "big name?" And Pac Man was only a "big name" because of off-field incidents.

if we make it into the divisional round then we can only get as many free agents as we lose. and there will be less free agents because it takes six years to become one. there are still rules in place. this will not be the free for all everyone is thinking it will be. plus there are at least 4 owners that can spend just as much as jerry. i see maybe one big signing by us

their will be rules like the ones explained ^^^^^. you can't just go out and buy all the top free agents like the Yankees did this offseason. also their's not a worse "fan" in my opinion than a Cowboys and Yankees fan.

Help me out here... What does Jerry's reputation for signing ALL these free agents, and spending all this money come from? What is the root of this arguement...? Been a fan for a long time, but I didn't really follow the offseason and free agency until recently.

A buddy of mine who was getting ripped because he's a Yankee's fan and them buying a championship, said, "you just remember this conversation if there is no NFL salary cap next season and Jerry starts buying his." Where does the reptutation come from?

The truth is if the Cowboys make the playoffs they can not buy anything the rules in place for no cap make it near impossible for a team that made the playoffs to replace a player

The non playoff teams have it made and you will see very little overall movement
