I am gonna get slammed for this. But if he decides he wanted to play football and go after a ring, I wonder if he is in shape and if MM and JJ would be interested in taking a look. I know a lot of you don’t like what he did. And I don’t care for the way he treated the whole situation.

That being said he would be a beast at McCoy’s position. But wasn’t he indefinitely suspended or suspended for 1 year, would he have time to ask for reinstatement. I don’t think that we will even consider him but man what a time it would be to have him playing.

Now with the rule change he would simply pay a fine..

There's your issue. Not convinced he ever truly wanted it.

I would definitely be calling to meet with him, Glim. I wouldn't worry about the naysayers.

Is it still not abundantly clear that Irving doesn't care?

do we know what we have in the young folks yet? To give up on them for a dude who may or may not have his head in the game not sure if that's solid decision making. That said Im not going to lose over it.I just dopnt want him taking up a roster spot that could be used effectively elsewhere if we get the same ole David irving

He's still suspended, no?

So, he would have to appeal his indefinite suspension, and also be in NFL shape.

Don't hold your breathe on this happening.

Irving would have to do the things Randy Gregory has already done to get back into the league, it's obviously a slow process due to the horrible commissioner.

No thanks. I’ve never understood why we as fans show more interest in a former player playing again than the actual player does.

David Irving is what my coaches hated most when I played sports as a kid: a quitter. Why are quitters not good for any team? Because you never know when they’re going to quit on your team when you are counting on them.

Exhibit A as to why couch fans will never be professional NFL GMs.

well Dang just bring back purple drank RO M as well.. we need all the losers back who only play half the time.. sure players like them are athletically gifted could woulda shoulda been PB HOF Players who just dont give two phucks..sad the waste of talent we have had go through here with lack of motivation and professionalism..

rather smoke and drink then make millions..

I thought we had exhausted all the names we could call him already ....

Couple of things...

If Gregory hasn’t been reinstated yet, what makes anyone thinks Irving will. Unless there’s something I’m missing

Also, we don’t have any rights over him. He was an UFA when the suspension hit, so in theory, all 32 teams could pursuit him. Odds are no one is, because he shows no desire to play. I don’t have anything against weed smokers, but he came out and admitted he never liked football. He was just good at it and did it because it was expected of him. Given that, it’s unlikely that someone who has been out of football for about a year and a half is going to play at the same level *or* be willing to put in the work to get back there.

If we’re that concerned, I’m pretty sure some trade option will present itself

While I do not agree with Irving about marijuana, I do agree the NFL is hypocritical when it comes to drugs, and punishments. With some states legalizing the drug, the NFL had no choice but to let up on their stance on the use of pot in football. But Irving is a talented guy. He possesses talent not many people have. It's his choice what to do with his life but when you don't use the god given talent you have it's called sloth. He should not have given up football for pot.
