Calling my shot now

Ill be in Europe mid April for a couple weeks so I won't be around to do it closer to the draft.
Enjoy Europe bud. We will hold the fort down. Too early for me but the offensive conviction that I have had since SF, dissipates every time I see coach in waiting Quinn leading pro day workouts. Gun to my head I am right this second saying best TE available.

I think they will view Washington like a 2 Down NT, probably won't be interested. Yes, has upside, but more of a project as a receiver.
Quite possibly. I really don't see them going TE early anyway. I think they like Ferguson-Hendershot and will add another fourth-seventh-round TE to compete. Could see them going as early as the third round, though.

Agree, TE is probably an early day 3 priority, but with the offensive scheme change, cannot rule it out.

I 100% think the pick is Avila unless Bijan or someone else falls.

He played great, doesn't allow sacks, his RAS is 85th percentile, and he has position flex.

For a week was real high on Washington. Then I got realistic about what he'd offer as a receiver. He's the kind of player you grab if your roster is already loaded.

Maybe, but whew...that's really drafting for need vs. talent. In many drafts Avila would be the 5th, or 6th best guard. He's good, but not really a special player. Not top 40 talent.

Bad year to hunt for guard. Bad year to need DT or WR. I think you gotta stay closer to best-player-available.

Edge, tight end, RB, maybe corner...that's the honey of this class. I hope they draft from one of those four positions with first 3 rounds.

This is a deep enough draft to be left at 26 if we stay there a few really nice options at RB/TE/OL in that order of availability.
Jerry didnt hand over the keys to MM and not allow him necessary pieces he requires to pull this debut off.
No disrespect to the OP, and if a top DB is there and we go there, I dont have a problem with it, just saying that MM will have a strong influence in this draft.

Nothing wrong with the premise, I used to try to guess who they would pick but when I do mock drafts now I don't try at all to match what they might be thinking.

I think a stronger WR class would have tipped us in that direction. I think thats why they were working the trade market at WR. I do think its going to be an offensive heavy draft, I just see them ending up at defense with the first pick. I do think TE is a very strong possibility. Right now its the only offensive position I can see them going. No OT will fall and no interior player worth 26. HB? Wildcard but wouldn't be on it. Could even be Zay Flowers if they absolutely fall in love. But like HB, wouldn't bet on that with a gun to my head

I was a poster on a general NFL board when the Eagles reached for that 26 year old Guard. Eagles fans there raved and raved about it saying things like he is so mucn more mature than other rookies.

I don't even remember the guys name, and its not worth a Google. People forgot about all those guys that become nothing and remember the one or two times its worked

michael mayer,te-notre dame.
broderick jones,ot-georgia.
will mcdonald,de-iowa st.

it'll be one of those 3.

wild-card:darnell wright,ot-tennessee

I think its going to be between two players:

Deonte Banks I think is going to be their main target. Good chance he doesnt get there, but I think if he is they run that name up. I think if the CB goes to the Eagles ( or after) I think there is a decent chance at Banks (the likely 4th CB drafted) makes it to 26.

If Banks is gone, I think it will be Will McDonald. Long and explosive he fits what Quinn wants on the edge to a T. In a weaker class he is probably a top 20 pick and I think they will grade him as that.

TE is still a possibility, but I dont them dropping a first on a TE with a CB like Banks or an edge like McDonald on the board

I will throw a wild card out there for you too. Gervon Dexter. Why Dexter? Cowboys met with two DT's in the combine and Dexter was one of them. Some say he is a 2nd rounder, but I also some teams may grade him higher. Cowboys could be one of those teams. He scored very well at the combine, and even with average arm length (32), he has the build of a 3T/4i. Likely the 26th pick? No. But a wild card to keep in the back of your mind
You may have something with Gervon Dexter. He can play the DT1 yet offer more athleticism than other DTs there. No moves this guy. Very high ceiling. Dallas may figure this is the guy they need to resolve the run issues.
