Did anyone else feel like our staff decided, coming out in the second half, to just call off the dogs? Romo was dinged, the Crayton fumble was unfortunate - I think Wade and Garrett realized "Hey - we can do whatever we want against these guys. Let's just pack it in, run it down their throats, and get out with the win." We stopped chucking it all over the field, stuffed it down their throats and knew that Tavaris Jackson wasn't beating anyone.

The score says they won by 10, but that was flat out domination. The Cowboys doubled the Vikings in nearly every statistical category except the score, turning the ball over twice with fumbles in the second quarter. Basically, the Cowboys could do anything they wanted on offense, and only stopped doing so because Romo got dinged and they realized they didn't need to sling it, just stuff Barber down their throats.

Tavaris Jackson is not an NFL QB. I'm not sure how he ever got drafted, much less in the second round. He's not even "Kyle Boller" out there. I don't fault him for that throw to Wade, because that was a good throw. It was just a sick-er play by Roy Williams, who apparently never got the "He can't cover" memo from The Society for ******** Sports Commentary. But, he doesn't make reads, he doesn't get the ball out of his hands on time, and he is not accurate by any stretch. The Vikings had two drives where they moved the ball well, and Jackson had little to do with that.

Is Marion Barber the toughest mofo in the NFL? I think so. Gashed the Vikings #1 run defense for 90+ and iced the game when they knew we were running. It's what he does. He's a freak.

On to the bye week, and then back to kick Philly's duker horse. 6-1, FELLLAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!!

i do and that's why winning by *only* 10 doesn't bother me. it was good to see the gound game eat up the clock, however.

Yes, I think they played not to get Romo hurt more. Not a doubt in my mind.

Sure seemed that way to me too.

They pulled in the reins and did just what they needed to do to win.

Sometimes it's better to do that than to make mistakes trying to put up gaudy numbers.

It's impressive how Barber is able to run the ball consistantly when everybody knows it's coming.

I knew we'd come out rushing the ball more. How could we not after Williams had to go to the locker room early before half? That called back TD was the best thing that could have happened to us in that game. It wore their defensive line out running down the field like that.

Yeah.

That's why these "disappointment posts" are especially unfathomable to me today. Did these people not see how badly we dominated the Vikings? How we trashed them, and beat them up, and had them cringing every time Marion came on the field?

This was an ***-whoopin'. That 10 points might as well have been 50.

I don't feel like Garrett ever "called off the dogs." We just took what was given and played the clock and circumstance. We only lead for 7 and 10 for much of the second half. The clock became our friend and the defense was playing well. Also, Witten missed an easy catch that could have kept a drive alive on third down. I just think Romo didn't want to force anything.

In my thread I talked about some things we and the players did that I didn't like, but I should have added that while at the game, I never really got the feeling we were in trouble or were going to lose. The Vikings play a ball control game, but they never controlled the clock. Our defense stopped them too much and our offense was eventually going to get something. The blocked kick and return was gravy and allowed us to settle down.

I think we played sloppy some, but I think we also dialed it in to an extent, if that makes sense.

So we throw the ball 8 times in the second half after throwing it 30 times in the first, and you don't feel like we called them off? Maybe just different terminology, I'd agree that Garrett just decided that this was all we needed to do to win. Let's get out and to the bye week.

Championship teams, don't call off the dogs.

They do whatever it takes to win. That's what we did, and were damn impressive doing it. The Vikings were never "in" that game. The Cowboys were on their ***** from the word "Go". And instead of firing away, they said "We're gonna pla smashmouth - stop us if you can."

That is what championship teams do. They dare you to stop them - and if you can't....you're just not on their level. That happened late with the Patriots, but we showed we can hang.

Well I know he scares the bejeezus out of me when I see him running, imagine what it is like knowing that animal is coming right at you? Damn he knocked a linebacker right over near the goal line.

the smart ones do.

would you rather see us continue to push romo and he hurts his hammy more and we've got brad johnson to lead us against the giants? maybe longer? personally i don't EVER want to see brad johnson on the field during a game for us for anything more than holding a snap or something.

being a champion doesn't mean you beat the hell out of everyone any time possible. save it for when it matters and don't over extend when it doesn't.

I don't mind seeing Johnson on the field to take a knee at the end of the game ;)

We did ease up in the second half. Romo threw to get us tied (nice pass to Owens). Afterward, it was just give it to the Barberian as much as we had to in order to get out 6-1.

Is that why the Patriots (who's balls you seem to be firmly attached to) put in Matt Cassel and pulled the Golden Boy?

I think there is some truth to what you say here Punk. I mean, there is some good reasoning behind that way of thinking but it does scare me. If your not careful, that becomes a habbit and then you can't turn it back on.

I don't know if anybody has reported on Flo but that's one of those kinds of injury your talking about in this post. I mean, that's the end of the game and you get him nicked a little bit. I hate seeing that.

Of course we changed our playcalling, but pounding the ball down their throats with Barber isn't exactly calling off the dogs. It's more like beating them to death slowly even though we know we could end their misery quick.

End of the 3rd quarter and we finally go up by 7 and they were not "in" the game. I mean seriously, get real here. We may have dominated time of possession, yardage and our defense was very good but there was no calling off the dogs as you may say it. We struggled to get points on the board that game period.

We had a 3 and out to start the third and thanks to a big penalty by them we only had 36 yards to go for the tying TD. We got that and then the D came up big at the end of the third. That was the only point in the game where I was starting to get an easy feeling.

Exactly. People don't need to be retards and interpret it as "They stopped trying." No, they just stopped slinging it and beat the hell out of Minnesota.

The game was not close. It was a domination. One of the most savage 10 point beat downs I've ever seen.
