Did anyone else feel like our staff decided, coming out in the second half, to just call off the dogs? Romo was dinged, the Crayton fumble was unfortunate - I think Wade and Garrett realized "Hey - we can do whatever we want against these guys. Let's just pack it in, run it down their throats, and get out with the win." We stopped chucking it all over the field, stuffed it down their throats and knew that Tavaris Jackson wasn't beating anyone.

If they did, they are in for a rude awakening. I remember the Cowboys Commanders game where the Commanders scored 14 points in the final seconds to beat the Cowboys. You don't "call off the dogs" until the game out of reach. I have an equation for it and you never call off the dogs in the first quarter no matter the score. You must be up 7TDs at the start of the second, 6 TDs at the start of the third, and 4 TDs at the start of the fourth At that point you use ball control (and if that means score again, then yo do) until the two minute warrning. At that time, you can down the ball even on forth to burn time. If you just run the ball and keep scoring before the two minute warning, then it's there own fault and they deserve the score to be ran up on them.

As much as I'm starting to hate the Pats, they did the right thing against the Dolphins. I watched the score closely after the half. If they kept scoring, I would not have been happy.

I don't mind seeing Johnson on the field to take a knee at the end of the game ;)

We did ease up in the second half. Romo threw to get us tied (nice pass to Owens). Afterward, it was just give it to the Barberian as much as we had to in order to get out 6-1.

I don't know what game you guys were watching. Ease up in the second half. We did not get the lead until late 3rd quarter. The only easing up we may have done was on 2 possessions in the 4th. Other than that , I'm baffled at this idea!

Exactly. People don't need to be retards and interpret it as "They stopped trying." No, they just stopped slinging it and beat the hell out of Minnesota.

The game was not close. It was a domination. One of the most savage 10 point beat downs I've ever seen.

Points are the determining factor in who wins and loses, and we did not have more than them for a good portion of that game!

Exclamation point!

It was a beat down. We took the lead in the third quarter (they only held it for about 10 minutes of the ENTIRE game) and never looked back. We threw 8 passes in the second half after throwing 31 in the first.

Why?

Because we didn't need to. We scaled back the gameplan to secure the W.

Save the "I was so scared" posts for a day when we didn't double up the opposition in almost every statistical category and win by double digits.

I have a vivid memory of that game. I watched it on the side of a friends house. When you don't convert points, for whatever reason during games, you have a good chance to lose that game. That is what happenned in that game and it can and does happen in the NFL every week. They returned 2 fumbles for TD's. One was called back obviously, but lopsided games swing bigtime on plays like that.

They do whatever it takes to win. That's what we did, and were damn impressive doing it. The Vikings were never "in" that game. The Cowboys were on their ***** from the word "Go". And instead of firing away, they said "We're gonna pla smashmouth - stop us if you can."

That is what championship teams do. They dare you to stop them - and if you can't....you're just not on their level. That happened late with the Patriots, but we showed we can hang.

Who ever thought the Vikes were on our level? They are one dimensional bottom dwellers for now. Even though they played tough ball, but to let up?
That is not what championship teams do. The Pats scored with seconds left on us, seven at that. They didn't let up yesterday on Miami. They haven't let up all season or any season they have been winning.
The Colts don't let up. If they get up big on the Jags tonight do you think they will let up? Correct me if I'm wrong but those are probably the two best teams in the NFL.

If Phillips and Garrett are letting up, then they need to move on. I never want to hear a coach say, ahh we got this one, until the final whistle.
If they wanted to protect Romo from any further injury and they were so sure the Vikes were never "in" this thing they should have let Johnson hand off the ball.

We are a good team who needs to take it to the next level. Games like yesterday are stepping stones to the next level. if we could have we should have put up fifty, that's what championship teams do.

I was under the impression it was because Romo had the injury and they didn't want him scrambling around in the pocket with the injury if it wasn't necessary. Only eight passing attempts in the second half had nothing to do with scaling back the attack.

And the fact that the running game was being effective at that stage which killed the clock as the Cowboys moved the ball down the field. Had the Vikes continued to shut down the running as they did early I'm sure Dallas would have thrown the ball more in the 2nd half.

Is that why the Patriots (who's balls you seem to be firmly attached to) put in Matt Cassel and pulled the Golden Boy?

:lmao: Where do you come up with this crap? I hate the Pats and the colts.
Can you deny they are top notch teams though? Yeah you probably can. Oh momy them evil Pats scored on us and didn't have to. Guess what, thats what you do in pro sports. That is what separates great teams from good teams. Those that can kill, do.

I have no problem with scaling back the offense to make sure Romo stays healthy etc. especially after seeing him limp off the field earlier in the game.

I would have liked to see some weird formations etc. that we probably wouldn't have run the rest of the year just to give teams something extra to gameplan.

Indy won the Superbowl last year and I don't remember one game they ran up the score, yet that's all you hear about the Patriots this year. You also hear about all the late hits, dirty plays and cheating etc. Will this equate to a Superbowl or just some team willing to do whatever it takes to shutdown New England, including going low on Brady to make sure they don't try running up the score.

I feel pretty comfortable saying that Tarvaris Jackson is the worst starting QB in the NFL. They are going to get thrashed by Philly

the smart ones do.

would you rather see us continue to push romo and he hurts his hammy more and we've got brad johnson to lead us against the giants? maybe longer? personally i don't EVER want to see brad johnson on the field during a game for us for anything more than holding a snap or something.

being a champion doesn't mean you beat the hell out of everyone any time possible. save it for when it matters and don't over extend when it doesn't.

I agree Ice....sometimes keeping the foot on the pedal can come back to bite you in the butt.... we did what we had to and it worked. No need to sling it around just for the sake of stats!

Roy made 1 pass play and no he can cover he was late lucky for him the QB sucked and threw a ball that hung to long.

Like they say even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

I also had no fear of Minny mounting a late charge as long as we tackled and did not start the olay routine on Peterson.

What if Wrex Grossman was still playing QB? Some of the Commanders fans act like Campbell is the second coming, yet he only churned out 95 yards yesterday. While thats more than Jackson, that is still an embarrassing total. They totalled all of 160 yards of offense. :lmao2: :suxskins:

Where do I get this crap? From reading your posts since we lost to the Patriots. You're quick to find any opportunity to bash the Cowboys and throw accolades in the direction of the Patriots.

Running up the score in the final minutes is not what you do in pro sports. In fact, you'd never see the Colts do that, not while Dungy is coaching the team.

They aren't as explosive as the Pats are. Last season they had a bunch of close games. They also had a few were they put up big points.
