Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant?

Here is a better question.... Should Dez get Calvin Johnson money??

He's making it real hard for Jerry and company to say no. Start of the season you could argue he is top 5. So he should make close, but not exactly that.

The way he's been playing? Peoples opinion on him now? Media, and other fans? If my eyes are not lieing, majority of people today, who don't hate the cowboys, have him as either #1 or #2 WR in the NFL today.

Dez has a better QB and better supporting cast. I don't think Megatron has been 100% healthy this season.
Megatron also gets a lot more targets. And that's not a just this year thing. Last couple years people wish Romo would just throw into double and triple coverage and let Dez go fight for it.

Dez has arguably dine more with less.

Look at ODB this last month and a half as the league has tried to crown him. His last game he got 21 targets. Has Dez even once had that multitude of opportunities?

I think that is a great point. Our balanced offense and run first game plan doesn't lend to Dez getting eye popping targets other WR's get.

Top in targets:

D.Thomas: 184
A.Brown 182
J.Jones 164
J.Nelson 151
A.Johnson 147
K.Benjamin 146
A.Jeffery 145
V.Jackson 143
J.Maclin 143
G.Tate 142
E.Sanders 141
D. Bryant 138
J.Edelman 135
S.Smith Sr 133
ODB 132 (12 games)
C. Johnson 128 (13 games including two games where he was a decoy and got a total of 3 targets)

Look at this number. Dez is inarguably better than everyone on this list but D.Thomas, J.Jones and Megatron.

Meanwhile he is in the same range of targets as J. Edelman. Golden Tate had more targets. Of those listed here only Julio, Nelson and Maclin had more yards per catch. Nobody had more touchdowns.

Kind of a joke really.

It's hard to argue against Calvin's previous performance of 329 against us last year; but if this season has taught us anything it's that the NFL is a strange bird and anything can happen from season to season and week to week. I see them both having big games to be honest. Our safeties are playing much better this year so I don't see Johnson having another ridiculous game like that, but the man can play and he will be heard on Sunday. Dez, on the other hand, is having a career year and will make his share of highlights as well, providing the running game can get things going against the League's #2 defense and provide some balance. As good as I feel about this game, I feel it's gonna be very close and could very well boil down to turnovers and special teams.

Pretty wild.

I think on a percentage basis, Dez is targeted a lot. I suspect Benjamin is too.

I only ask this question, because today I was super shocked. In this sports group that I'm apart of that is huge, full of fans from every team. Somebody asked the question. I clicked on it, ready to see a bunch of Megatron, Megatron, Megatron ect ect......No lie, the first whole page said Dez Bryant. 2 guys on this first page, said megatron, then went and changed their opinion because of a few points others made. Then I only saw a few Calvin's but overall by a landslide it was Dez.

I know this has been discussed on here, but I'm interested in getting your take. Think outside of being a Cowboys fan.

Me personally I still feel like Dez has to catch up to Tron. I feel like he is still the better player. I was shocked to see so many Dez's. Especially with the ton of cowboys hate they get in this group I'm part of.

Here's what 1 guy said, that got the most likes

Robert Comer-"Dez is a better route runner, he fights for everything, he wears his heart on his shoulder, crazy hops, shifty and strong. And he's more consistent"

My gosh is this a serious question? Calvin obviously.

Dez. As another poster already stated. Calvin might be on the decline whereas Dez is entering his prime.

I can only think that Johnson would be a better WR with Romo throwing him the ball.

Sure. But you're also slashing off a huge number of targets in this offense. Since Dez' rookie year Calvin has 920 targets. Dez has 611.

From just a receiving perspective is the difference between Romo and Stafford really worth 309 targets?

I'm not really looking at the number of targets as much as the physical abilities. It's close but I (and it's just my opinion) think Johnson is the better receiver. Bigger, stronger and better rout runner. Dez hasn't peaked yet, but having Romo over Stafford, Dez is in the better situation.

I'd take Johnson over Dez. Dez gets better separation and beats the double teams better than anybody in the league, but CJ is just too big and jumps too high and essentially catches it over the double team. I do think Dez is the 2nd best WR in the league though.

Naw, I like brown, but if you need a fade route or a desperation play where the guy is covered. I like Dez in that situation. Also with brown, your QB needs to have a big arm.

I just like how he does more and shows up more. Also he takes less than half the money of dez and tron.

Give me Dez. I just love that man so much. A player who loves the Cowboys as much as I do.
