Can Cowboys Expect Immediate Impact From Rookie DT Jordan Carrell?
http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2017...jordan-carrell-with-colorado-blog-the-ralphie

Jack Barsh has been a godsend over the last week as the Dallas Cowboys twice went to the well and drafted Colorado Buffalo players. He and the staff at Ralphie Report have been more than willing to help bring BTB readers up to speed on some of our newest Dallas Cowboys. He is what they had to say about Jordan Carrell.

Question: The Cowboys have a track record of success with seventh-round defensive linemen exceeding their draft pedigree, I am thinking Jay Ratliff off the top of my head. Obviously we would not be too upset to find another one. What does Jordan Carrell bring to the table that will help him fight his way on to the gridiron?

Barsh: Jordan Carrell is an interesting case. He burst on to the scene a year ago after a stop at American River College. Carrell was an immediate hit in the weight room and during practice. His work ethic is tireless and his attitude is fantastic. But this is not just a feel-good story. Carrell can move really well for someone his size, and as a 3-4 defensive end, he took on blockers extremely well. He was a consistent sighting in the backfield. Basically, he’ll never be outworked and he has some surprising athleticism and moves...

I agree, minus some major injuries and need, practice squad. The scary part is that the league is seeing we are drafting better, so I can see people signing our players if cut or even if they go to the PS.

I'd give him a slightly better chance of making an impact than I'd give myself...5th DT on the depth chart and that's not including Crawford and Irving

Jordan Carrell will be undergoing a significant change in position from 3-4 DE to 4-3 DT. Whether or not he makes it successfully remains to be seen. He'll be challenged. It's always tough for a late round talent to make the grade. At least, I wish him very good fortune in his quest.

Bull, I like that the Cowboys have a pair of defensive tackles that hustle from the start of a play to it's finish...now they have to stand up to the grind and improve.

Agreed -- it's always helpful to have a DL candidate who is bullish about giving his all on each and every play. Carrell apparently fits that requirement to a "T." If he has the strength, grit and determination to implement those qualities in the NFL, he might surprise one and all.

enjoying this time of year. Its refreshing. I think I have read no less than 5 articles today draft picks, rookie free agents even practice squad guy who will impact cowboys this year. If any writer is paying attention, can you write me feel good story on Chaz Green. Nick Eatman already has said he looks like TE now that he has dropped alot of weight. But I need more. Tell me how he becomes dominant at RT. Lie to me. I handle it.

Its going to be very hard for any late round pick or or undrafted free agent to make the team this season... As you go up and down the roster most spots seem pretty set. Carrall is going to have to significantly outplay Thornton and Paea to make this team, as I don't think we will carry more than two 1techs. Considering we also have players that can play end or can swing in side that makes it even more difficult. With that said, Paea is here on a 1 year deal, and Thornton was banged up last season so I wouldn't entirely rule him out.

Most likely scenario is he winds up on the practice squad, than has a better chance at making th squad next year, when we have a couple free agents.

id play him instead of risking PS. Whats going to happen this year? we dont make the SB? ok fine, i think we can all get over it and play anyone we believe in and hope for next year. Play anyone you believe in and want to work with and get ready to make a good run starting next year.

There isn't a single person in the CB organization that believes this, and if there is, he should be fired.

sure, because umm, after 20 plus years, we are Sb bound already LOL. I mean is it sooooo out of the realm of reality for a organization to tell teh fans, "we beleive in this, this is what we drafted and we believe in it. its not happening this year, lets face it, we have had better teams than we have right now and they couldnt do it. Ok, thats fair, but we believe in this, we believe in our draft and our plan. We arent making teh Sb this year, we all know that, but , you give us one year, one year and we ll change how you see the Dallas Cowboys"

Ok, to be fair to you, you might need to hear "we are SB bound, we are the best ever" i get it, maybe you dont fully understand or maybe you jsut need to hear it. But if the past 20 years have not shown you anything (depending on when you became a fan) this year is NOT shocking anyone except those that need to hear "we are SB bound, we are the best ever, we are going to rule the NFC East" you might need to hear it because well, you just havent learned yet.

I have learned and i understand after watching this organization for many years, notice i dindt say team.

Ok, so now im going to shock you with my big brain. Dallas isnt doing it this year. I know I know, you ll be on the ledge, maybe crying into your phone to your buds down at the malt shoppe. I get it. but believe me, its not going to shock anyone whos been a cowboys fans for a long time.

That said. IF the tema believes in this, and i hope they do, i really do, Play everyone, play them this year and get them ready for next year. What is so wrong iwth that, you have had 20 plus years of medocirty to pure crap. What, do you really need someone to hold your hand and lie to you? Its ok, they are going to be SB champs this year. Ok now back to reality. PLay the damned rookies and put forth everything into next year. This year is over. its been over for 20 plus years, if you didint realize that, maybe find another team.

The problem with being a realist, is that you don't know what the season will turn out to be. Do you think NY really thought they had a SB caliber team before training camp even began? I bet a lot of their coaches were already looking ahead to the next draft half way thru the season. How about the Cowboys heading into 2015? I seriously doubt they were expecting that after going 12-4.

It's smart to strategize for the long term, but you always have to put your best options for success on the field. You just never know what's going to happen.

I think the GIants felt better off than we did, and did very well for what i kept hearing about them. remember this past season was about how bad the Giants were and how much better the Cowboys got, the Giants beat us twice and go the same distance on the season. They have to feel real good with a young HC at the helm. remember too everything you pointed out, has got to factor in the coaches and our staff has gotten its butt beat regardless of the talent on the team. So now refactor that in and the Skins, Eagles and Giants feel a bit better because for Garrett to look good he had to have a high draft pick, got a gem in the 4th and Rod really pulled his weight, even tho the defense went down right on time.

THe Eagles had their stuggles, but not to much that need fixing, the Giants had a good offseason and the Skins, well lets call them a wild card right now. All that considered and the fact they have young coaches in for the long haul, they are feeling way better than the Cowboys who took a step back. Now its great that Dallas took that step back and followed through, but there WILL be no parade or medals if they think "hey, lets hold up on some guys in the hope, no no no stay with me guys , in the hopes we are going to teh SB". Are you kidding me, they should be laughed out of Dallas for that.

For that, i say lose the season, (like i stated before, the rah rah sunshine crew will still pump the sunshine and the realists will already know ahead of time whats going on) so lose the season, play the players you believe in and let the season ride out. IF you win great, if not, what do we lose? a chance at the SB , ill wait til the laughter dies down.

You are not getting that parade for losing and you are not getting a medal again for starting Witten. So wise up to those facts, start planning for reality because this was the Cowboys move, and live with it. PLay those players, show the fans this is what you believe and use this season to put everything you want, into next season. Again, no one has answered, what are we going to lose? the SB? there is no chance in that.

Or, or or are you so confident that a team that hasnt really sniffed SB success in a long time will have that cinderella season? i got news for you, that was last seaosn and Garrett blew it. So there goes that answer. Again, what do you have to lose? respect, there is none in dallas. confidence, no, havent sniffed or really made noise tha the league has to take you serious. So what are you so worried about losing? No one today should take Dallas serious, but come next season, if you play this seaosn correctly, you can start shutting people up, but our fans are soooo stepped in mediocrity that the calls to be successful are so heart breaking to them, they just have to defend the run of the mill Cowboys, and in this league, that doesnt float for long and i think 20 plus years is enough. If the success gets to you, just go right on over to the Jets or Bengals, you ll feel better. At some point, the Cowboys fans are going to have to tell the happy fans to pump for facts, not mediocrity. The fact is right now as it stands, the SB is a long road and we took a step back. ITs all well and good, but if you believe in it, show it to the fans. Play everyone because again, you dont get medals for losing, you would think the fans would know this by now.

Simply, you have no clue as to why someone would commit to or follow the sport. Wearing paper sacks from being ashamed of the product, does not include sportsmanship.

Negative hype is a much wore waste of effort and support...with that kind of support, stick to being a Playtex bra. (it's known for a different type of support)
