We told you a long time ago that cutting Roy Williams make little sense because of a $9.5 million bonus that is fully guaranteed.

There's even more to it than that. Around $2 million of Williams' $3.452 million base salary is guaranteed as well, to bring the total guaranteed money to $27 million.

I mentioned this on the chat the other day, but Jerry Jones isn't going to pay actually money to a guy to go away. Last off-season, he didn't owe Terrell Owens a dime. Owens just cost the Cowboys' salary-cap space. That's why it was easier to say goodbye to him.

For Williams, he will receive a check worth $9.5 million on or before the 15th day of the new league year, which begins March 5 if there's not a new CBA.

first of all u didnt tell me anything as i dont read you or ur flaming posts(so called blogs). 2nd 9.5 would mean something football cap wise if there was a cap in 2010. since theres a 99% chance there wont be, there is nothing football wise that will be affected. just jerrys pocket.

and im saying i guess thats enough reason to believe he will be a cowboy. what i was posting about was can the team really justify it?

Assuming the Cowboys carry 5 WRs this year, I guess you're saying that Hurd and whoever else they will get this off season is better than Williams.

and to the 26 mil guaranteed not 27. wasnt most of that supposed to be paid in the first 3 yrs? which this is the 3rd yr. so wouldnt it just be a bad contract coming to its end?

Let's say you make $100,000 a year and you paid your assistant $20,000. You already wrote the check, can you justify firing the guy before he does the labor for the new year just because he's not as good as you thought he'd be?

If you think can justify throwing $20,000 in the trash (Minus Ego) then chances are your business is going under anyway because the reality is that it's not justifiable to can the guy before he starts work for the new year that you just paid for.

C'mon man, you don't just flush $9.5 Mill down ze toilet vato. Even if I gotta make RW play ST's and shine my shoes, I'm gonna put that sucker to work somewhere....

lol of course you dont. roy was supposed to cure all things for you. i liked the idea of roy in dallas too. but its clear the guy is in the wrong type of offense. he has no sense of timing. he cant build a connection with romo.

pretty soon there are going to be adam type threads about debunking roy williams myths again.
Yeah, that is why I don't agree with it.

Williams isn't getting released 100%. People have to stop contemplating it cause it aint happening.

That's what they were saying about TO at this time last year.

I implored Jerry to do it, but I never thought he had the balls to follow through.

This is a little different though. No one feels like Roy is putting himself above the team.

I'm not advocating cutting Roy, but what people are missing is how the brain ignores the idea of "sunk costs". Roy is getting his check for $9.5M in March whether they keep him or not. That money is spent.

The question is whether or not the Cowboys will be a better team with or without him. Saying JJ 100% won't cut him because of the contract may be 100% correct, but it doesn't answer the question. If Roy is better than all the other options they should keep him, if they have an equal replacement in Ogletree or Hurd, they should trade him(which should be easy since they are paying him) and if they have 3 or more better Wrs and can't find a trade they should cut him.

Can I just remind me everyone that I became one of the most notorious anti Terrell Owens people on this planet at that time last year.

And then Jerry cut him on my birthday.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It felt like the world was right for one day.

Because he made an idiot out of himself in trying to throw a barb at me.

And Failed miserably.

So you like him for that.

:laugh1:

I think you just failed worser than he did.

We just have to bite the bullet. It's stubborness and a false hope that Roy Williams will every amount to anything in the NFL.
IMO he's already proven himself to be a good NFL wr. The guy didn't put up two big years in Detroit of all places by accident. He just needs to get on the same page with Tony...I know it sounds repetitive but I really believe it takes a while for two guys like that to gain confidence in each other.

Last time I checked, Sam Hurd was at the bottom of the depth chart. If we bring in a new receiver which I am all for then he is the one that would and should get cut.
