Can Dak be as effective as Steve Young

Dak is not in mahomes league either . Mahomes has won a SB and is 8-3 in the playoffs in 5 years , so he is headed to the HOF one day. Dak has 1 playoff win at home and seems to have peaked in 2019 . A different situation altogether.

QB's dont have records. But yah, mahomes is another level completely. I still dont think he wins any championships during the Garrett era.

He wasn't Montana, he wasn't Moon, He wasn't Staubach but he was good enough to win a Super Bowl. Hardly a feat that cannot be duplicated by Dak or by any of the other Qb's in the world today. Who is it that can't handle opposing opinions ?

I would take Steve young over Moon for sure and possibly Staubach. Young was one of the best QB's of all time. Was probably the best dual threat QB ever to play.

Dak doesn’t have the team Steve Young has to be as effective. Dak isn’t the runner Steve Young was.

He could be. But risking injury to Dak to squeeze every last yard out of him is too much of a risk.

What makes Dak a good running QB isn't his speed, which just isn't fast in terms of the NFL, it's his size and the fact that he's not the easiest QB to take down, especially once he gets in the secondary.

Steve Young its tied for 1st place for number of seasons as the top rated passer.

Both he and Len Dawson was the top rated passer in an NFL season six times. The3e is a tie for 3rd place tie between Bart Starr, Aaron Rodgers, Ken Anderson and Roger Staubach. each have four seasons as the league's top rated passer.

I mention this because Young's effectiveness as a runner was directly related to his effectiveness as a passer. He was so elusive that if a defense tried to blitz then Young was automatically a double threat. A defender could only react to a run once Young passed the line of scrimmage. If tjey gambled to get a head start in chasing him, he would automatically make them pay with a last second pass before the line of scrimmage.

Young's receivers, like Rice and TO. would go deep and draw at least three DB's with them and that gave Young a lot of running space. Dak will not get the kind of space Young had to run around with, partly because of Young.

It was QB's like Young, Vick, and others whose running success led to training defenses how to handle a running QB so that defenses today are a little more sophisticated in that area.

Doesn't need to run per se . Maybe occasionally the RPO basically just be mobile. Bring back the 2016 offense but use Pollard 60%, use Zeke on short yardage or 3rd and long, motioning Pollard to slot.

Dak's running days are over. Pre-injury he was a big threat.

Mike McCarthy begs to differ! He's already announced Dak will be allowed to be a runner at the team's discretion. How often that might be allowed is yet to be determined. Seemingly, it may well be a somewhat limited number, considering the potential risk of re-injury.

if i had time machine and could insert dak into those Superbowl teams full of HOFers..that where you guys completly miss the comps..aikmans numbers were eli manning like in the Regular season but his coaches, team and yes himself stepped up in the playoffs , doesn't make them better,,got it?

you have to weigh the situation apples to apples daks not on those teams with those hOfer coaches and players is he??

i say player like dak, zeke, and Romo could be on inserted in their respective counterparts' positions with no other changes and im betting those teams still have the same sucess.. when you all wake up and realize this is team game where what around you and who coaching, who is building teams all matter.

Dak has that talent yes 100% ..its why you see guys like Foles, Eli, Dilfer, Flacco win sbs also see others like Garoppolo, Kaepernick, and goff other make sbs
