Can Garrett get some credit?

The 'ol "the cowboys didn't win!.. the eagles beat themselves"

maybe you can petition the NFL to change the outcome of the game to suit your liking.

I think with those passes caught the game is tighter but our offense was fairly conservative in the 4th quarter. playing not to turn the ball over.

they didnt go vanilla but they were not playing desperate either.

next week will be huge.

He still runs way too many delays, abandons the power run game, and is too predictable.

Yesterday it all just worked.

My only to complaints are that he seemed to come up with a way to delay the handoff even more on that super deluxe delayed draw that he ran a couple times.

and

Why the heck was Romo in the game and throwing on the early downs after the game had been decided.

He should never have taken that hit that dinged his back up again.

All in all Garrett gets a "good game" and a pat on the ***.

Wade and Jason deserve some credit and respect for what they've done lately. I tip my hat to them both.

same here. Jerry also deserves all the credit in the world.

While I want to give the Eagles respect I do wonder how you can totally dominate a team in all three phases of the game and get so little respect yourself.

It's the NFL so its quite possible to get a completely different game next week. But I'll take my chances. I'd rather be in our shoes than theirs.

Garrett doesn't know how to beat heavy blitzing teams.

we beat the Eagles in Philly on a night that they blitzed heavily.

No. I agree I've seen better from him, but that was compared the absolute **** he was calling before.

Anyhow, like Romo said. The Cowboys are going to see a BUNCH of blitzing next week. It won't be like it was this game, especially in the first half. Which happens to be were the Cowboys did the most damage. The Eagles started blitzing in the second half. To show you what I mean.

Cowboys first half drives net yards / points. 80/TD, 62/INT, 90/TD, & 54/FG

Cowboys second half net yards / points (and blitzing!) -9/punt, -1/punt, 63/TD, 71/Missed FG, -4/punt, 41/turnover on downs, -3/End of game.

The 63 yards and TD in the second half, 49 of it was one play by Felix. You can't always depend on big plays. Without that play, the Cowboys scored zero in the second half.

We are going to see a full game of that come Saturday. Don't even THINK next weeks game is going to be a cake walk. Garrett doesn't know how to beat heavy blitzing teams. The Eagles for the most part beat themselves several times last night with several drops passes when WRs were wide open.

If the Cowboys win Saturday, it will be an earned victory, as I seriously doubt the Eagles are going to come out flat again. Think the first Cowboys / Eagle game. I expect this game to be more like that one. A real fight.

Lets hope Garrett figures something out on how to beat the Eagles blitz heavy defense. He didn't do so well once they started blitzing. (3 of 5 possessions resulting in negative yards, NOT including the forth negative possesion that was a result of the knee down possession to end the game)

I understand that but I also believe that 2 of the 2nd half Cowboy drives were stalled by holding penalties, not by the blitz.

Same thing as the first half, they could not stop the run first and thus did not have the opportunity to blitz. The penalties in the 2nd half gave them that opportunity.

Good job twisting words. You get an F for failure.

Jason Garrett is the #1 unsung hero in this game. He has finally proven to me that he has evolved as a coordinator. With all the talk of balance between run and pass, that to me was still not good enough. Good offenses don't just have balance, they have a good, effective mix of that run and pass. That's what effective offensive coordinating is, and Jason Garrett finally bruoght all that togehter last night; and he did it in such a way where he basically dictated the entire game to the Eagles defense. He ditched the passive appraoch, kept them off balance, and basically took it to them head on. Very aggressive! Job very well done!

Yes. I'm aware and I even noted that in my post that you failed to quote.. It just wasn't the complete blowout that last nights game was and I noted (which you also didn't quote) that this game will be the same fight as the first match up.

also, we certainly were not in a situation for a good part of the half where we were going to do anything special. we are facing a team twice in a row, we aren't going to show our hand when it isn't necessary.

I agree.

The Eagles got flatout embarrassed in that game and will be looking to get revenge.

Dallas is the better team but the best team doesn't always win.

Go watch that play again. Two Eagles defenders that either could have tackled Felix took themselves out by picking each other off effectively allowing Felix to turn a 10 yard gain into a 49 yard TD.

It was a good running play that allowed Felix to get beyond the line of scrimmage, but Felix *should* have been stopped at a 10 yard gain.

Thanks for the link. I did watch the replay. Both those players failed individually to make the play. Their individual failures had nothing to do with being "taken out" by the other.

Irregardless. Being a good OC is about putting your players in position to make plays. And clearly one of the goals with Felix is to get him into space so he can make folks fail (like these two did).

Now if Garrett's strategy and playcalling cost us the playoff game then let the chorus of boos crescendo.

But so far, Garrett has done just fine against the blitzing Eagles this year and deserves the credit that goes with it. Not crediting Garrett for that Felix TD run just sounds like hating to me. And of course Felix, Free, Witten and others who executed it get credit as well.
