Can Irving get 10 sacks?

The real question is can he develop into the next Julius Peppers? Yeah he can break 10...

To keep both I do not think you can franchise one (tank) and sign the other while also signing Martin. Irving could be cheap-ish since he plays mostly DT

I think Irving will be a RFA this off season, if I am not mistaken. So he can be tendered for one more year.

I believe they both are RFA and can be tendered but I'd rather sign Irving rather risk the chance of losing him. Where as if we tender Lawrence I'd take the 3rd if over priced.

Lawrence will be an UDFA. He will need to be franchise tagged.

I would then tender Irving at the 1st round price. That way if either team is signed by another team, we get a first round pick for them.

I doubt Irving gets 10 sacks this year. I think he missed too many games and he will be doing good to get 9.

That's probably what Cowboys will do. But I would try to resign him to an extension now with incentives and a clause about substance use. I've seen enough of his talent to take the plunge now and hope I get it on the cheap.

I absolutely agree but Ash actually very well considering he was a practice squadder up until this week. He was holding his own on running plays and getting pressure up the middle too.

Not sold on any of current 1Techs, Hyde was running free too often.

Sure thing. Heck, Crawford might get 9-10 sacks with the attention Lawrence and Irving will be getting.

My point is pure talent. Irving is on the same level as JPP (pre injury) or even Julius Peppers. Dude is a straight up freak of nature.

Not even close. Pure hyperbole. Irving is a solid talent. Demarcus Lawrence is our most talented DL.

It is widely agreed upon by Cowboys analysts that Irving has the most raw talent of anyone on our DLine. He is clearly not as polished in his form or technique as Tank, but when looking at straight-up size, athleticism, and talent, a comparison to JPP is not far-fetched.

The guy has so much talent it’s crazy. It doesn’t matter where they put him he produces. If he learns to be consistent he’s an easy pro bowler in the future

I think so. He's a match-up nightmare. He's as tall and athletic as the most athletic tackles and he is simply too fast for guards.

I criticize this FO a lot( and I still will), but Irving was a great find by them.

What does "raw talent" even mean if it doesn't translate to the field? Does Rico Gathers have more raw talent than a young Jason Witten? If so, raw talent is meaningless.

JPP was a first round draft pick despite modest college production. Irving wasn't even drafted. JPP had 4.5 sacks in 7 games as a rookie. David Irving had 4.5 sacks in 27 games coming into this season. If David Irving has as much "raw talent" as JPP, then clearly raw talent doesn't mean much.
