Can Romo be saved?

Romo Is one of the most mentally tough QBs in the game IMHO. Can throw 5 picks and go out like it never happened and lead the team to a win.

One of the things I like about him.

Too many bad things have happened to him since Buffalo 7 years ago, he's been beat down by the media and it has changed his approach.

Romo, on the right team would be fine. My fear is that his skills are diminishing and by the time this team gets it turned around, it will be too late. Is Tony the best clutch QB ever, hell no. Does he make poor decisions? Yes.

But.....you cannot tell me that he couldn't lead the Ravens of last year for example, to the same place they ended up. He's far better than Flacco.

He is in the wrong place at the wrong time. I am not the biggest Romo fan in the world, but I am certainly not a hater either. Just my take. .02

He couldn't make the deep throws that Flacco did or do.

I've posted this and truly believe it.
"Romo's mind exceeds his physical ability. I'm not joking about this. I believe and many have pointed how how cerebral Romo is. He put in his time in film room and coaches meetings. He know game situation and what needs to be accomplished. He sees the defense and play development. HOWEVER, his arm can not deliver the good.
Many of his INTs are not true mental mistakes but physical ones. Such as he feel like he can squeeze the ball in tight spots or over top of defenders but end up being intercepted. Unfortunately for Romo, his physical ability will continue to decline. He needs to accept his physical weakness in order not for these INTs to continue."

Why is it always someone else's fault when it comes to Romo? He hasn't had a good coach. He needs a better line. If he only had help o the defensive side. Needs one more clutch receiver.........and the excuses go on and on. The guy is and has always been a middle of the road QB. Period. He is a little better than average but has gotten no better. It hasn't been all Romo. But we got what we got. What we need is a new owner which we will never get.

I usually like your posts but couldn't possibly disagree with you more on this one. Romo has never showed the same ability Flacco did in that playoff run. Flacco put up Montana type numbers in that run and it was at the highest possible level. Romo choked against a 28th ranked Washington defense last year with all the marbles on the line for goodness sake. He has never proven himself worthy in elimination type games. It's not like the Ravens just carried Flacco the whole way. if anything he carried them. Flacco was a big part of them going all the way and was the superbowl mvp for a reason.

117 QBR, 11tds, and ZERO interceptions

flacco was CARRIED! big time.

You think with seconds on the clock on 4th and 29 that he was gonna win the game?! nope. he had a 2 yard dump off that ray rice saved the day with.

You think Boldin and Torrie Smith didnt make some amazing catches to save flacco's rear? (Boldin is a possession WR so def saved flacco many times).

Shoot, all we needed was the broncos safety to not be a moron in the final 2 seconds of that game and they lose there too. Saved by the opposing team.

Flacco is what he is this year. Cant do much. He's missing boldin and a D and their team is winning off their kickers 61 yard field goals. He sucks.

I like romo, and it's too bad he was put in that situation to begin with

If you have a qb prone to late mistakes, devise a strong running game and defense. We have 1 of 2, but we ignored the strong one.

Garrett has to go if its anything short of an NFC title game appearence

Nope he's done, mentally and maybe even physically now (he sure won't be getting any faster as he gets older). You need a QB with some physical tools in today's NFL. Either has to have some running ability or some size to stand tall in the pocket and arm strength to deliver tough throws. Flacco may not be the most talented QB but he has the size and potential to make some incredible plays like he did during his Super Bowl run.

Romo has maxed out, he's peaked. It was a nice story but not everyone can be Kurt Warner.

I've accepted Romo as a good QB who happens to also be accident prone. If something can go wrong, it will. It's happened that way through his entire career and while the pieces around him have changed, he and Jerry Jones are the one constant.

Romo just Isn't a championship qb regardless of what team he's on. All we have done is make excuses for the guy. He has a solid oline this year and a solid run game and the offense still sputters. up until this season those were what he needed. now he has Em and it's the same old song and dance. I'm done with him, next.

No, he can't. He's under contract with this team until he retires.

I have not completely given up on Romo.

But Romo can't throw the deep ball any more and has to overcome the shortcomings on our team for too many years.

No head coach can save a QB from themselves. Once the ball is snapped a QB is on their own and it's up to them to make the right decisions. Committing the big mistake at the worst possible time is something that's plagued Romo under Parcells, Wade and Garrett. The Cowboys have found ways to limit Romo's turnovers but the ill-timed turnover is something that's continued to haunt him especially in critical Dec/Jan games. Garrett doesn't trust Romo but this season the Cowboys (Jerry) decided after handing Romo the farm during the offseason to give him more control in the offense and it's resulted in Romo changing plays at the line of scrimmage and making poor decisions.

On a 3rd down inside the KC 10 yard line in week 2 Romo changed the play at the line of scrimmage and instead of going to Dez who had owned Flowers all day he threw a screen out to Williams who was surrounded by defenders. That play had no chance and the Cowboys had to settle for a FG. Romo is what he is a talented QB who can't handle big game pressure in Dec/Jan. Every season he continues to reinforce the stigma he has with game ending turnovers. What happened on Sunday wasn't all Romo's fault but he played a part in it and if some want to continue to be in denial over his role in some of these losses that's your problem.

Correction what happened on "Monday Night" wasn't all Romo's fault but he certainly played a part in it. and it's a waste of time arguing with those who are in denial over his role in the loss.

I have not given up on Romo. I have given up on the system, he needs a tough coach. He needs coach that tells him what he has to do. Not a coach he tells what too do.

IMO, he needs to be with a coach who wants to play smashmouth football. As Parcells warned us, you to keep Romo under control.

Your thoughts..

the only thing that can fix Romo is world renowned psychologist because all of those heart breaking losses have programmed his brain into thinking that is what he is. Its pretty hard for player like him to have such a error filled past to all the sudden wake up one day and be something different. That would take years of re-programming.

Not many, if anyone can throw the deep ball like Flacco. He has one of, if not the strongest arms in the league. I get what you're saying, I just used Flacco as an example.

It is too late for Romo.

The die has been cast with him. No QB guru is going come in and undo the damage that has been hardwired into him. No head coach is going to be able to get in his head and change anything. His QB puberty was over a long time ago and there is no going back.

This was a discussion we should have had when Parcells left. Instead we let David Lee walk and brought back a stooge do-nothing yes-man In The Family Portrait QB coach like Wade Wilson.

Nailed it. That just about says it all

What?

Your logic; If you can throw 50 footballs and hit a moving target 48 times, missing twice, you have accuracy problems.

Every post from here on out should be about the defense and Monte Kiffin being fired today.

The last 2 games have been such a disaster I'm getting them mixed up. I'm not blaming Romo for what happened vs the Bears on Monday night but he played a big role in the debacle vs GB on Sunday. I noticed there were at least a couple of FANS immediately after the game who were in denial over his role in the loss on Sunday. No one can save Romo from the demons that are over running his head we can only hope the last 2 games don't come down to him having to put the ball up in the final minutes for the Cowboys to win. As horrid as the defense is it's hard to imagine this season not coming down to Romo having to save it.

I tire of being argumentative, but this team has no linebackers(Durant was put on IR today) and a non existent pass rush. Why must we spend time on the QB who has 17 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions in his teams losses?

Romo, on the right team would be fine.

I thought that was the case at one time.

I don't believe that anymore. Romo has really shown us why.

If you Romo on the Ravens last year... They either don't make it through playoffs or they lose Super Bowl.

Flacco was mistake-free. Romo ... could... Never.... Be....
