Can someone tell me what Alfred Morris has done to be our starting HB?

I agree. I see you haven't posted much maybe you just haven't been around long enough to see. Stay close you will see

Oh no, I see this sort of thing all of the time on the Dallas Cowboys main forum. It doesn't make it any less sane or rational. It's petty, vindictive, and definitely places "being right" over the good of the team. Those aren't fans in my opinion. They're fantasy football fans who SAY that they're Dallas fans. :D

Alfred Morris allows the full load be taken off Zeke. With fumbling to be concerned about now, Morris can minimize that. Also, Morris is running between the tackles better. OC needs to take out the sweeps or reduce them for both runners. Pound and ground. That BS with Zeke, and especially Morris as wide outs in the passing game should be canned. Everybody needs to help Zeke find his way.....he ain't Emmitt yet. I'm not down on Zeke.....too much too fast without much of a preseason and game film says slow the Zeke era down a bit....just slow it down.

Lots of people calling for Elliott to get benched for Morris. Im just curious as to what Morris has done so far this season that you feel better with him as opposed to Elliott
It sounds like those people need to go back to sleep & keep the dreams going in their alternate reality. Zeke needs to work through these early issues and the thing you do right now with this Clydesdale is you reinforce your trust in him doing so. Then you get back to work getting better as a team.

Nothing wrong with working a rookie running back gradually into the game plan like it appears we did with other top prospects in the past, especially one that didn't get a lot of reps in preseason due to injury.

Zeke is everything that the publicity said he was. You just have to let him get adjusted to the game. Morris is the experienced back, who runs hard and has an impact on the game, when he comes in. McFadden is smiling because he gets a front row seat, to every game, he is paid pretty well, and will never see the field.

I loved the Zeke pick. What I don't love is rewarding the starting position to a player who hasn't earned it and missed a lot of training camp. He is a rookie and gets a pass for a lot of rookie mistakes, but I don't like RB's who fumble twice in the same quarter. It screams bad ball-carrying technique. I think he'll eventually turn into a good player. He might even become a great, but don't crown a dude just because he was picked 4 in the draft. Make him earn the spot. Up until those two fumbles, he was progressing well as a rookie.

In a way, it's good that this happened. Now we will get to see how he handles that.
His fumble rate in college was very low.

Morris 3.5 ypc in his 1st 2 games. Guessing OL run blocking has more to do with this for both players than their lack of production.
Give Morris more carries and his YPC goes up. I would split the load between the two, at least for the first half of the season.

Zeke needs to play better. He can't do that sitting on the bench.

Vets even fumble. Zeke was benched the rest of the game. I think people are over reacting because they hated taking a RB at 4th and secretly wanting him to fail so they can say, see told you so

If Morris fumbled twice in the game I would say the same in reverse and yeah I hated the idea of a running back fourth overall and still do. However now that he is a Cowboy I only want success for EE, but you can't ignore sloppy play.

I think AM's touches need to increase until EE can show he deserves the majority of touches

I don't even blame the blocking.

It's just a congested mess in there and 5 or 6 players simply can't block 8 or 9.

It's just what fans do. No patience. No consistency. Just from one extreme to the other week to week.

Apparently their plan was to enthusiastically support starting a rookie until he has some adversity in the league then lead the campaign to bench him.

Its Daks fault ........ he has changed the goalpost on what a rookie should play like ...... at least to the dumber Cowboy fans

Morris hasn't done anything to be named the starter, nor was he brought in to be a starter. He came relatively cheap by NFL standards, and there are reasons for it. His YPC has declined every season since his rookie year, and his current one is nothing special. There's nothing in his history to support the notion that will improve if he gets more carries. As for Zeke's fumbles, Morris has 11 of them in his career. It happens.

The Zeke issue is more about people holding him to nearly impossible standards because of his draft position. There's nothing he can do about that.

Not so much benched, just give Morris some more carries. He had 3 carries late into the game that killed his numbers, but I feel like he has earned roughly 10-12 carries a game. Obviously Zeke is more talented physically, but this early in the season while he's figuring it out, I'm fine giving the vet some more carries.

Zeke fumbled 1 time in his entire college career.
He isn't a fumbler.
There are not fumbling concerns.
